(Possible) Meaning of I Spoke To The Devil In Miami, He Said Everything Would Be Fine

Hey! I really like the depth of this song and have read a lot of theories about what the lyrics would mean. A lot are very literal. I would like to experiment a bit with the idea that this was extremely symbolic. Let me know what you think.

--As X follows this up with a lot of lyrics referring to his internal struggle and his depressing view on things happening around him, he uses this to relativisme everything by telling himself "It will all be over soon anyway". Like nihilism. He can be depressed about things he observes, but what does it matter. When I die, everything that bothered me will still be happening, so why would I bother anyway.

Constantly lose all my remorse,"

--There is nothing around X that gives him any positivity or hope. It's the depressive mindset that continues on the statement he makes in the intro.

--The shepherd being (religious) leaders, preaching some sort of values and way of living to you. Giving you rules to maintain those values. The wolf blending in and obeying these values until they can take advantage of the situation and make a profit for themselves, will be the winning party as the sheeps, who decently followed their shepherd's path, are the ones being 'killed' by the wolf.

--The leopard stands for strength. People follow this leader, because they look up to the power he shows, may be physical or verbal. His perception being used to let them believe in what you preach and use them to achieve it. X followed his perception, symbolic as an apple showed by the leader, and expected the beautiful returns that were preached and he believed were coming.

--X is struggling with the fact he doesn't know how to escape this reality. He wants to figure it out, but it's impossible to stay calm because he is being confronted with this reality every day.

--X is debating himself inside if he wants to follow the good path. The pacifist side still thinks he can solve everything while staying calm and peaceful, but the masochist side seems to be taking over as the more he realizes it isn't solving anything.

--The only way out of being an helpless observer in this reality would be giving up on those ethics himself. It's a choice between staying the sheep forever or stop following the shepherd, where you even becoming the wolf in some cases. It seems to be the only way to give meaning to his life.

--What I see most is that people say X sold his soul at this moment. He lost his ethics and became the wolf, in exchange for his key to Eden.

--BUT... I also like to take a different approach. As he gets tempted to give up his ethics to get what he wants, he gets an extreme feeling of anger. He resisting as hard as he can, even knowing this would make everything in his life way easier. He shows his fangs to the devil, who is surprised that X DOESN'T take the deal. Then, he smiles and tells X that he will make this deal in the future and there will be a day he will lose himself, no matter how hard he resists. As this is sure to him, X his soul (anima vestra) is from this moment
