1. Get out of a chair without using your arms.

2. Get up off the floor without assistance. Any way that works!

3. Bend down and touch your toes.

These are good signs of strength and flexibility. If you find that your ability to do these things is diminished, work on what you need to do keep these abilities.

This tip isn’t meant for anyone with an injury or illness that would preclude these activities.

Keep fun trinkets and pins in your car

I go antiquing a lot and some things I always look for are cheap buttons and pins. I keep cool looking ones in my car in the cup holder.

Whenever I go to a drive-thru; if the worker is obviously having a bad day, or is being super nice to me, or sometimes just because, I present them with one of those cool pins.

This almost always brightens their day and makes you feel better as well. And if you frequently visit a particular drive thru it might ingratiate yourself with the staff.

LPT: I accidentally found the fastest way to get water out of your ear (better than hopping around)

So I had water stuck deep in my ear (you know that annoying feeling where it won’t come out no matter what you do).
Instead of hopping around or using my hand as a suction cup, I tried this random thing:
1: Tilt your head so your blocked ear is facing down.
2:. Start moving your upper body up and down strongly, like bowing but quicker, without using your legs too much.
3: Slightly bend your knees while doing it (don’t keep your legs totally stiff).
4: The momentum just shot the water out instantly. No pain, no struggle.

I’m calling it the slingshot method. It worked first try. Thought I’d share in case anyone else gets stuck like I did.

How I have learned to be more relaxed, sleep better, and feel better about myself! (Share your techniques!)

So I have decided that the biggest way that I can remove a majority of stress from my life is to stop watching the news cold turkey...I mean it's nothing but negative stories anyways, and it's the SAME stories over and over but with just different people, and thinking back at all the time spent watching the news, I can't think of at time where listening to even ONE news story made my life better....and besides it can't be good for the subconscious to have all these negative news stories bouncing around in your head...

another thing I started to do to help regulate my sleep is to wear glasses that block blue light that comes from computer screens and whatnot, (about 3 hours before going to bed) ..this helps your body to naturally produce more melatonin which helps you sleep better...natural blue light that we get from the Sun is good for us, and gives us alot of the energy we need, but blue light after the Sun has set is not good for us.

I will be purchasing a humidifier soon and some nice smelling essential oils to have running while I sleep, this should help to improve my sleep as well..

also recently I started listening to ASMR tracks, which actually have a bit of science to support them...some people respond to different "Triggers" which is just a specific sound, and when a person listens to a sound that triggers them they get what is called "The Tingles" usually in their head traveling down their spine which creates a feeling of relaxation....they say that only about 20% of the worlds population is able to experience these "tingles", and that it's more likely that someone who is neurotic, or has something like ADHD will experience this effect..at the very least ASMR is satisfying to listen to, even if it does nothing to your brain...

I have also been cutting down my sugar intake, I was drinking alot of soda, and just started to enjoy tea, and one thing I am doing is one week I will have 7 teaspoons of sugar whenever I have tea, and then the next week every time I have tea I will then put 6 and a half teaspoons of sugar in my tea, and every week just reducing the amount of sugar that I put in my tea by half a teaspoon until eventually I am just drinking tea with no sugar at all :-)

I've also been doing some different methods for getting rid of anxiety, and negative beliefs about myself that I created when I was a child to explain my parents behavior...The Lefkoe Method for getting rid of negative beliefs works amazingly well, and also The Sedona Method is complimentary...this particular method has been able to help me to release quite a few issues that were emotionally charged...

I also plan on learning some breathing techniques, and practice something called "Quantum Entrainment" which basically helps you to become aware of what is called your "Eu-Feeling" which is essentially just a way to become aware of the feeling of peace in the absence of anxiety, through paying attention to what you are thinking...by putting you into the perspective of an observer of your thoughts...

ChatGPT is also an amazing therapist btw, and can go through the above methods step by step as well.

PS: a nice hot bath with Peppermint, and Eucalyptus Essential Oil with "Algemarin Original Scent Foam Bath" is very refreshing and relaxing..

I would love to hear about your guy's ways of relaxing, getting better sleep, and methods of self improvement! please post them below!

LPT : Skip the chemicals and buy a $30 drain auger — it’ll save you hundreds on plumbing bills.

Had a clogged sink that wouldn’t budge, even after dumping drain cleaner down it. Instead of calling a plumber, I picked up a 25-foot drain auger (aka a plumbing snake) for about $30.

It took 5 minutes to clear the clog — no mess, no chemicals, no $150 plumbing bill.

If you have a slow or clogged drain, a basic drain auger is a total game-changer. Super easy to use: feed it into the drain, crank it until you feel resistance, then twist and pull the clog out. Done.

One use and it’s already paid for itself.

Looking for a tiny voice recorder that connects to my phone via Bluetooth

I'm searching for an ultra-compact voice recorder device that would let me quickly capture audio notes with just a single button press. Ideally, it would:

* Be small enough to carry everywhere (pocket/keychain size)
* Connect to my smartphone via Bluetooth
* Have a simple one-button operation to start/stop recording
* Transfer recordings automatically to my phone
* Have decent battery life (included reloadable battery prefered)

My use case: I want to record quick thoughts and ideas throughout the day, and then have these voice recordings automatically transcribed to text using speech-to-text. The text would then feed into my personal AI assistant to help organize my thoughts, create to-do lists, or even analyze patterns in my thinking.

I imagine a workflow where I can just tap a button when inspiration strikes, speak my thoughts, and later find them neatly transcribed and organized by my AI assistant. This would be so much more convenient than pulling out my phone, unlocking it, opening an app, and then recording.

Has anyone found something like this? Most voice recorders I've seen are either standalone with no Bluetooth, or they're smartphone-connected but require opening an app first. I'd love something that works more like an AirPod case but specifically for quick voice memos.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

LPT: If you don't know an animal, you don't touch it even after it sniffs you. You leave it the hell alone.

I just saw an LPT saying let a dog sniff you, don't stand over it, don't pet the top of its head, etc, but pet it's neck instead

Not only does that person not know what the heck they are talking about, people are agreeing with them.

1. If you don't know a dog, you don't put your hand ANYWHERE near it.
2. You absolutely stand above the dog. You getting lower means your are increasing the risk that if the dog decides to bite you, it's going for your face. Dogs do not like it when you get face level with them and they don't know you or care to know you.
3. Don't touch their necks if you don't know them. Animals, including dogs, go for each others necks in fights. IE you touching that unknown dog's neck could easily translate you're trying to KILL it to the animal.
4. Even if the owner says it's safe, do not take their word for it. We have owners of dogs that bite people all of the time in the news and they go "oh no he's a sweet baby hed never do that.

Any person who actually works with animals will tell you this as I am now. I have worked with dogs and cats and literally the above three keep you from being bit.

If you don't know it, you don't touch it. Even if the owner says he doesn't bite, don't take their word for it like I have in the past. The only dog that has bitten me outside of a controlled animal clinic setting was a dog that sniffed my hand and chose to bite it before I even fucking touched him.

I know lots of dogs are cute and fluffy and it's hard not to want to pet them or interact with them, I get it. Trust me.

But an animal is an animal. They don't think like we do, and a lot of the things we do confuse the SHIT out of them that are seemingly normal for us.

Better safe than sorry and in stitches.

LPT DON'T use normal 3M command strips in a rental place. Use the Velcro version for damage free item hanging.

I have lived in close to a dozen places now and in every single place I have used the normal command strips and the velcro variant. The normal command strips will tear paint off the wall at an absurdly higher rate than the velcro ones will.

They are so much harder to get off the wall when you have a picture hung up with them. But the velcro ones allow you to pull the picture off of the wall much easier and then slowly pull off the command strip from the wall without any rips. This will save you so much money in the long run.

I know that these things are usually pitched in colleges as what you're supposed to use on the walls so that you don't end up damaging them but that honestly needs to stop being the case. It's not every single command strip that tears a wall but a normal command strip will tear the wall significantly more often than the velcro ones will. Even if you think you're pulling it off correctly there's still a good chance it's going to rip that wall. Also by wall in all these cases I mean the paint on the wall.

The velcro ones work just as well for any weight of item that you would use the normal ones for.

TL;DR: don't use normal 3M command strips, they will damage your walls more often than the velcro version will. Use the velcro version instead.
