YSK: You can save tons of money by buying your prescription glasses online versus buying at your optometrist's office.
Why YSK: This might be US specific but instead of paying $300 or $400 for a pair of prescription glasses at your optometrist's office after your checkup, there are a few reputable eyeglass manufacturers online that can make your prescription glasses send them to you for a fraction of the cost of the optometrist office. Optometrist offices are a complete rip-off.
Instead of paying $400 for my most recent prescription glasses, I went online to one of the eyeglass manufacturing companies and paid $29 in total. All you need is a printout of your prescription optometrist can give you. I don't want to be accused of being a shill for this one specific company but DM me if you would like your name of the one I use. However if you Google you will find a few different options.

Got some glass bottles and they have solidified superglue on the top of the bottle (spout). Any tips on removing it?
So i got some replica glass bottles that I was planning on using as actual drinking bottles. Keep in mind these costed a lot of money so replacing them isn’t exactly an option. So anyways I open them and the tops have superglue on them. Albeit, it is solidified, and hot water could get rid of it, but im not too sure. Is there any ways to easily get rid of the solidified superglue and still drink from it?

LPT: When buying leather goods, don’t assume “genuine leather” means high quality
“Genuine leather” sounds reassuring, but it’s a marketing term for the bottom tier of real leather. It’s made from the lower layers of the hide (after the stronger, more durable top is removed), and is often heavily processed, sanded, and coated to mimic higher-end finishes.
While technically real leather, it’s less breathable, more prone to cracking, and generally won’t age well. Brands can legally use the term even when the material is cheap and short-lived.
Here’s a basic breakdown of leather types:
Full Grain Leather – Top layer of hide, unaltered. Very durable, develops a rich patina over time. Highest quality.
Top Grain Leather – Still from the top hide, but sanded for a smoother surface. Good quality, slightly less rugged.
Genuine Leather – Processed bottom layers. Real, but heavily corrected and lower in durability.
Bonded Leather – Scraps glued together with plastic. Least durable.
I didn’t realize this myself until recently. This article breaks it down well if you're curious: What is Genuine Leather?
TL;DR: Don’t assume “genuine leather” means good leather. If a brand only says “genuine leather” without specifying “full grain” or “top grain,” especially on expensive items like wallets, belts, or bags, assume you’re not getting top-quality material. At mid-to-high price points, transparency around leather grade should be the bare minimum.
Save your money.

LPT: Set a light in your room to come on a few minutes after your alarm. If you randomly wake up and the light is off, you know it's safe to go back to sleep. If the light is on, you know you've missed your alarm and need to get up.
Alarms are annoying and you learn to ignore and turn them off automatically.
This helps especially if your alarm goes off before the sun comes up because it's an obvious signal. It also has the added bonus that there's no easy snooze button involved.
With a light, you don't need to look at your phone or a clock. It's not meant to wake you up, but to be a signal that fills the entire room. You can even see it with your eyes closed.

YSK those silica gel beads are reusable and can be saved for future use
Why YSK: Silica gel is not biodegradable, so when you throw it away it's just creating a bunch of forever-trash, but you don't have to. You can empty the packets into a jar and save the beads for next time you need to prevent humidity in a small-medium sized space.
They'll never go "bad" or become unusable, but eventually they will be saturated and won't pick up any more humidity. All you need to do to refresh them is put them in the oven at about 250-300°f for an hour or so and they'll be good as new.
I keep a small airtight jar and any time I buy a pair of shoes or electronics or anything that includes silica gel beads I save them. It's not that often that they come in handy, but once every month or so I thank myself for having them.

Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way. Need ideas to make rain water safe
I live in Florida and am preparing for hurricane season. This week water pressure has been unusually low on several days and the power has gone out for seconds at a time. I want to learn how to collect and treat rain water in a cleaned out unused recycle trash can that is kept in my garage. I don't plan on drinking it but want to have a supply of water for cleaning, hand washing, clothes washing, dish washing, and toilet flushing in case of emergency. I would appreciate ideas and answers to questions about how to treat and store the water and make it safe to use around the house: how to use bleach or Tincture of Iodine, how long will it keep, things to look out for to avoid problems. I plan to practice by filling the trash can with the hose and working on the logistics of using the water as I would during an emergency. Simple suggestions only. I am old and disabled. Thanks

Better sleep with solid platform bed
So I wasn’t even looking for a new bed frame but my old one started creaking every time I got on and off it. Really started to bother me, and mess with my sleep. I didn’t realize how much it was affecting me until I got a new frame.
Ended up getting the Embrace 360 from Knickerbocker. This thing’s solid. No squeaks, no rocking, nothing. The first time I sat on the edge, was expecting the usual wobble and... nothing. Dead still.
Finally getting better sleep, because I don’t wake up every time my wife turns over. Also, made in the US, so no shipping drama.

YSK Amazon Will Hive Away Your Account If You Change Phone Numbers
Amazon will give away your account if you change your phone number and someone else tries to make an account.
Let’s say you get a new phone number. You try to make an amazon account but the number is already associated with an account. Amazon will say the number is already associated with an account and give you complete access to the account. You don’t even need an email or password.
Why YSK: Phone numbers, addresses, order history, digital purchases, and all other information are free access to anyone who happens to get your old phone number.
This has been going on for years. In 2020- I got access to someone else’s account and reported it to Amazon. Now it has happened to me and someone is making orders on my account.
This bypasses all 2FA, passwords, and security. The person with your old number does not need to know a single other piece of information about you to access your account.

Neighbor's dog incessantly barking
Just like the title says - their dog barks incessantly for hours on end. The wife works from home so puts him outside because he's barking in the house, I also work from home and he's driving me bonkers. I cannot enjoy my pool or sitting in my yard either.
I love dogs, I have three myself but when they start barking they are called inside within 2-3 minutes. Their dog isn't neglected, he's well fed, watered, sheltered, walked, and has kids to play with on the regular...just nuisance barking.
Things I have tried:
Talking to the neighbor - if I text her she brings him inside for about a half hour. I can't text her every hour, every day.
Getting a bark box and pointing it their direction - it terrifies one of my dogs who then seems the outside scary and won't go out of our house.
Spraying water over the fence
Neighbor got a bark box - had to take it down because of my dog being freaked out.
Yelling at their dog - he's completely unbothered and just barks at me.
Calling the police isn't going to do anything but cause strife, we both own our homes so I'd prefer not to do that especially as I do talk to her. Seeing as he's taken care of and not neglected they wouldn't do anything.
