LPT: Put a rug underneath your bed frame if you're on hardwood floors.
Seems obvious after the fact, but just found out the hardware that bedspaces can and will cut into hardwood floor panels leaving them destroyed. Even using floor protectors doesn't guarantee it. Through a rug underneath your bed frame to protect the hardwood underneath

TIL of Cockney rhyming slang, a form of word construction where words are matched with rhyming pairs and then the rhyming word dropped to create synonym for the original word. So ‘fart’ rhymes with ‘raspberry tart’, which becomes just ‘raspberry’ as in ‘blow a raspberry’

LPT: Same Milk - Different Brands. Milk factories put the same milk into different containers. I bought “great value” from Walmart and went to https://www.whereismymilkfrom.com and saw it’s the same as Meadow Gold. Many companies do this with different items, you’re just paying for the brand name.

LPT: Don' like cooked vegetables? You're probably cooking them too long...
Cook broccoli to a mush and it's disgusting. Same with cauliflower, brussel sprouts, etc. just cook them for a few minutes, five tops, depending on the size of the pieces, and they're deliciously crunchy... You can still load them with whatever you like, but the base will be tasty.
Also, a bunch of parsley roots cooked for 5-10 minutes in a beef stock are delicious for a quick snack. High fiber, low carbs, high in vitamin C anf B9. And umami.
I was never too much in to cooking until I started counting my calories, so that's my background.

LPT For those who drive in cold weather climates
When defrosting your windshield on a freezing cold morning, open your sun visors all the way. It traps the heat against the windshield and significantly speeds up defrosting.
If you are skeptical, open the visor on one side and not the other, you will see a remarkable difference.

TIL in 2012 a woman discovered that her ex-boyfriend from 12 years ago had been living in her attic for about two weeks. Her adult sons & nephew found him asleep in the back of the attic which caused him to flee. They also saw he had rigged the ceiling vents so he could watch her in her bedroom.

YSK FreeTaxUSA is free state filing for AGI under 48,000...IF you google specifically for their "freefile" portal and use that instead of their main one.
Why YSK: Just did my taxes thinking my state return was going to be free with FreeTaxUSA because I made under 48,000. Still had to pay the 15 bucks because their free file version is a totally different portal, meaning I'd have to make an entirely new account and start all over again which I'm not going to do since I pretty much wasted my entire day on it and am tired of reading through endless inane questions about my tax situation.
Also, make sure every year you google for their "freefile" version rather than saving the URL, because each year they change the URL to try and hide it from people so they keep falling into the same trap I did. If you use this tax filing year's URL, you'll notice it's marked "2024."

Life hack: If you need to remember to take something with you in the morning, put your car keys on top of it.
No app, no reminder needed. Just place your keys on top of whatever you can’t forget — your lunch, documents, a return item, etc. You have to pick up your keys to leave, so you’ll automatically grab the item too. Works like magic for forgetful mornings.
