LPT: A family member just happen to cross your mind? Give them a call, if you can.
Really, it's hard to overstate just how good it is, for the both of you— especially if that family member is elderly or doesn't live close by! Let them know that they popped in your head, and so you thought you'd ring to say hi and see how life's going.
Keeping in the loop, sharing the little good things that happened during your day, it really does do well for the heart. I rang my sister on a whim earlier this afternoon and she text me half an hour later letting me know that I'd made her day.
Unbeknownst to me, she's been going through a bit of a rough time, and she said talking with her helped her feel a lot better.
It's a lovely thing to do for someone, to make them feel loved and valued, and it's a lovely thing to do for yourself to know that you've made someone's day even marginally better.

YSK: Old Navy (and other major retailers) deliberately destroy perfectly good clothing before throwing it away to stop people from salvaging it.
Why YSK: You Should Know that Old Navy has been caught tossing massive amounts of unsold or returned clothes into the trash—but not before slicing through each item to make sure no one else can use them. We’re talking brand-new jeans, coats, and shirts intentionally slashed, rendering them useless to anyone trying to recover them. Why? Because it’s more important to protect profits and “brand value” than to help those in need.
This isn’t just wasteful—it’s infuriating. With so many people struggling to afford basic necessities, destroying usable clothing is a deliberate, heartless choice. Instead of donating to shelters or organizations that help unhoused or low-income folks, they make sure the clothes go to waste. Capitalism at its ugliest.
So next time you shop, maybe think twice about where your money goes—and spread the word. Retailers can do better, but they won’t until we demand it.

LPT Request: How Can I Figure Out What Language People are Speaking?
Hi Friends!
We have recently become very fortunate to be able to afford some cleaners at our home. They speak almost no English, and I would really like to find out what language they speak to each other so I can learn some of it to communicate more effectively with them. I want to learn their language instead of insisting they learn mine just because they are in the United States; that's not fair.
I want them to feel like they are welcome in our home and that we are a safe space for them. With all that is going on in the world, I do not want to be the reason people are feeling uneasy. I want them to feel invited and that we appreciate everything they do for us.
I've tried doing the "detect language" on translate apps, but I either get no results or varying languages each time. Has anyone ever figured out a way to understand a language someone is speaking another way?

LPT: If you struggle with good sleep
Gotta preface this by saying I've had poor sleep for most of my life, and it's been pretty bad the last couple of years when I started college. Over the last couple months I've tried just about every lifestyle change / sleep technique known to mankind and its probably impacted my life more than anything I've ever done... my energy is through the roof, I'm happier, everything... 3 of the biggest tips I'd recommend if you're struggling are...
Brain-dumping (write down all your racing thoughts into a journal or voice notes),
Take tart cherry supplements & magnesium glycinate (two flagship supplements for sleep that did the most impact imo),
Take a warm shower before bed (as you get out your bodies temperature drops and it helps lead to deeper sleep)
These are the top 3 and tips I'd recommend for anyone, I'd be more than happy to share some other things that worked and what didn't but bottom line FIX YOUR SLEEP!

LPT: Change into gym clothes before you leave the office (purely for comfort’s sake)!
I used to have a job that had a horrific, horrific commute (1+ hrs in heavy traffic) and around 3 months in, I started working out right after my day was done. I stopped going right after work, but I did not stop saying that I was going straight to the gym simply so that I change my clothes before leaving.
You would be SHOCKED how much less draining a commute (especially a long one) is when you’re not wearing a tight skirt, a scratchy blouse, or a Real Bra. Even more than the commute though, being as comfortable as possible as soon as possible made me feel like my work day was truly over the second I left the office. It also made it so much easier to pop in a quick errand on the way home because it’s so much easier to lug groceries into your car and then your apartment when you’re wearing sneakers instead of heels.
All of this to say— pack a “gym outfit” in your bag and take 3 minutes to change before getting in your car and I PROMISE you will feel the weight of corporate life lift off of your shoulders so much sooner.

YSK paying out of pocket may be a better deal for some medication options (US)
Why YSK: you could be getting more for your money without it going through the limits of insurance
Yesterday I got my mind blown - if this is common knowledge, I actually had no idea.
I use a medication that's on the $10 generics list. My actual Rx is for a 90 day supply but that amount always gets rejected by my insurance and they give me 30 days instead. I mentioned this to my primary care provider, told her I was wanting to stock up in case the world gets more nuts, and she suggested I ask the pharmacy about paying out of pocket. I hadn't considered that, assuming the $10/mo was getting me some kind of better deal. Turns out, not only can I get a full 90 day supply, I'll be saving $10-15 overall.

LPT: If you want people to like you more, ask them for small favors instead of offering help.
It sounds backwards, but it’s backed by psychology (the Ben Franklin Effect). When someone does you a small favor — like lending a pen, giving advice, or helping you carry something — their brain subconsciously starts to like you more.
Why? Because we justify our actions by assuming we helped someone we already liked.
So instead of always offering help (which can sometimes feel one-sided or even condescending), try this:
• “Hey, can I get your opinion on this real quick?”
• “Mind holding this for a sec?”
• “Can you remind me about this tomorrow?”
It makes people feel useful, trusted, and connected to you.
Counterintuitive, but seriously effective.
