YSK: A hot spoon pressed on a mosquito bite can stop the reaction — heat denatures the itch-causing proteins
DIT: Adding a disclaimer for safety. This is not professional medical advice — just a personal tip backed by peer-reviewed science. Be careful not to overheat the spoon or burn yourself. The goal is warm enough to denature proteins (around 50–55 °C / 122–131 °F), not scalding. Always test on unbitten skin first if unsure
Why YSK:
When a mosquito bites you, it injects proteins in its saliva that stop your blood from clotting. These proteins trigger an immune reaction — that’s what causes the itching, swelling, and redness.
If you apply heat (like a spoon run under hot tap water) to the bite quickly — ideally within a few minutes — the heat breaks down those proteins, stopping your body from reacting to them.
No proteins = no histamine reaction = no itch.
The trick is getting the spoon hot enough to denature the protein and not so hot that you burn yourself. Running it under the hot tap is usually ideal — that should reach around 50–55 °C (122–131 °F). Press it gently onto the bite for a few seconds (5–10 sec usually works for me).
As someone who seems to be the favourite snack bar for all mosquitoes in the area, this is genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever learnt.

> "Median itch intensity was reduced by 57% within 1 minute and 81% within 5–10 minutes after treatment with a smartphone-controlled heat device."
Note: The study used a smartphone-connected device, but the same temperature range can be approximated with a hot spoon (run under tap water) applied safely.

YSK: Sleeping on your left side can help alleviate acid reflux due to the positioning of your stomach.
Why YSK: "This position helps prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus, reducing heartburn and discomfort. Sleeping on the left side also keeps the stomach lower than the esophagus, making it harder for stomach acid to travel upwards.
The stomach is primarily located on the left side of the body. Sleeping on the left side can help minimize the pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter, which is the valve that prevents stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus."

I'm a 25 yrs old female! around 2 years ago, I decided to give away/sell most of the stuff I owned!
I did not do that for financial reasons, I just wanted to experience minimalistic lifestyle to see whether it fits me or not! and truly I've loved it since then!
Not having to follow fashion trends or new digital products kinda unloads a burden from me! Despite never being a chaser of flashy items, this minimalistic style really suited me! I'd feel like a bird! many things became less complicated! I've even become more productive!

YSK: People can fake having car insurance
Why YSK (US): Someone backed into my car recently and did damage, but it was drivable and no one was hurt so no police were called. We exchanged insurance info like you are supposed to. The driver showed me a legit card from a legit company showing she had active insurance. Well, it turns out she wasn't actually insured. This scum of a human being bought a policy, got a card, then never paid for it so the policy lapsed.
I filled a police report online and made a complaint with her old insurance company. But as she's from out of state everyone just shrugged and said, too bad. I am so mad and frustrated that she gets away with this and wanted to warm others. If you get in an accident call the other insurance company immediately! I lost a lot of time going through my insurance company first (which I thought I needed to do).
And if by any chance the driver ever reads this, (though I'm not convinced she can read): You are scum.

LPT: Activate the PIN code check in Uber to prevent scams
In Uber, go to Account > Setting > Safety > Verify Your Ride > Use PIN to verify rides. Now, drivers can't officially start your ride until you show them a code in your Uber app. This helps prevent 2 scams:
1) Account takeovers. This is when a driver asks you for an SMS verification code. They usually call you from a distance and say they need to "verify your account" or some BS before they can pick you up. If you share that SMS code, they'll take over your account and steal your credit card. With Verify Your Ride, the whole procedure is: get into a car and show the code in your Uber app. No text message is involved, and obviously no one needs the code before you get into their car. Verify Your Ride isn't a 100% perfect solution, but being in that "get in, show your app" routine gives you the confidence to hang up on scammers.
2) Ghost rides. This is when a driver goes near your pick up point, hits start, then charges you for the full ride. Verify Your Ride prevents this one entirely.

Stop Wasting Money on Coffee Descaler, Use Citric Acid Powder Instead!
Massive Savings: 10 descaler tablets can cost $10+, while 100g of citric acid (enough for a year or two of descaling) costs around $4. + You can use it for many other purposes.
Same Active Ingredient: You're essentially using the same thing as the commercial products, just without the fancy packaging and markup.
\- Don't use vinegar (some coffee machines actually forbid using it, and it leaves a smell.
Always read your coffee machine manual! -- Citric acid is generally safe (it is the main ingredient in commercial products). For example, my manual even said that I can use citric acid alone.
How to Do It:
1. Empty your coffee machine's water tank.
2. Add about 1 tablespoon of citric acid powder to the tank. (For a standard 1-liter water tank, this seems to be the sweet spot for me. Adjust slightly if your tank is much larger or smaller).
3. Fill the tank with 1 liter of water (or to your machine's max fill line).
4. Stir gently to help the citric acid dissolve.
5. Run your coffee machine's descaling cycle as per its instructions. If your machine doesn't have a dedicated cycle, just run several brewing cycles with the citric acid solution (without coffee, of course!) until the tank is empty.
6. Important: Rinse Thoroughly! After the descaling cycle(s), fill the water tank with plain, clean water and run several cycles through the machine to flush out any remaining citric acid. You don't want sour coffee! Do this until you can't taste any acidity.

LPT: If someone asks you to do something, and you can’t make it, propose an alternate date.
If somebody is invited to participate in an activity, and they don’t want to go, it’s very common for them to simply say that they can’t make it. They think it spares the requestor’s feelings.
The problem is, this is also the response you give if you genuinely can’t make it.
And it’s easy for the requestor to mistake the latter for the former… especially if you don’t know the other person well.
If someone invites me to something, and I’m interested but genuinely can’t make it, I always propose an alternate date. Or if the activity doesn’t really allow for alternative dates, I give other potential ideas for subsequent dates.
It makes it clear that you’re genuinely interested.
