YSK There’s an app that allows you to identify birds by their sounds
Why YSK: Often I found myself outside hearing a bird and wondering what was making the noises I was hearing. I found out recently that Cornell University has published a free app called Merlin that will listen to birds around you and show you what bird is calling based on your area.
You can see the listings light up a soft gold when the app detects a bird is actively calling so it doesn’t generate a spammy list. I really enjoy it for learning about what’s in the world around me.

Driving stress relief
I've found that when driving someplace where I need to arrive on time, like work or dinner reservations. Even when I know the route extremely well, if I use my driving map app, it relieves my stress just keeping tabs on the ETA. And probably saves gas since I seem to drive slower. 🙂 Just something I started on the last few months and wondered why I hadn't started sooner!

LPT: Always copy text elsewhere before completing or sending forms
If you spend any amount of time typing, text for an internet form, always copy the text elsewhere (notepad, or word for example), before sending. I dont know how many times I forgot something on the form and when pressing send, my carefully crafted text would disappear as the form would reset. This tip has saved me much much grief.

LPT: Attend free conferences
I’ve been attending a lot of free conferences recently and it made me think that if someone was struggling to feed themselves it’s a great place to go. If you’re in a city, there’s bound to be something happening most days, and depending on the level of sponsorship they normally offer anything from pastries & coffee, to fully catered lunch and an open bar in the evening.

LPT: If you’re trying to build a new habit, make it easier than you think you need to at first.
One of the biggest reasons people “fail” at new habits is starting too big. You decide you’re going to go to the gym for an hour every day, meditate 20 minutes, cook from scratch every night… and then after a few days or weeks, you burn out.
Instead, make the first version of the habit so ridiculously easy that it feels almost silly to skip.
– Want to exercise? Commit to 5 pushups a day.
– Want to read more? Just read one page before bed.
– Want to meditate? Sit for 1 minute.
Once you’re consistent, you can build on it naturally. But the hard part is showing up not how much you do.
Small wins add up faster than big failures.

Ways to keep poorly insulated metal home cool?
My husband and I rent a little one bedroom home in South Ga that is poorly insulated,it’s 100 degrees out and even with the mini split set to 68 it’s almost 80 degrees and driving up our electric bill.I keep the blinds shut and have curtains on all of them,use my air fryer moor than my oven and have fans going.Im not sure what else we can do to keep the house cool

LPT: You can wash moldy plastic shower curtains in your washing machine
Just throw it in with regular detergent & a little bit of bleach.
Then, just run it on a heavy setting. You can put in a few towels to help kind of scrub the mold off, but it's optional. Do not put it in the dryer.
No more mold & your shower will smell great.

LPT for losing my mom?
I lost my mother when I was about 10, found her in her bed. I think I should be over it but I’m not sure why I keep having these moments where I just get envious I guess of seeing my friends with there mothers. I’m almost 30 and this happened about 20 years ago, my father told me to get over it and that life moves on and I no longer talk to him for those reasons. What is a healthy way to get over this?

LPT: how to get your reluctant self into the door of the gym
Keep a gym bag in your car with your gym clothes and a towel (unless your gym provides towels) and a toiletry kit. Walk in the gym with it. Do your thing and then shower there. Use your stuff, walk out just like you walked in.
For me, having to get dressed and wander around the house finding stuff to get ready to go killed it completely. It absolutely destroyed momentum. It killed the idea of going. Sometimes it's difficult to make yourself go. Having to wander around and find stuff is an absolute dead end.
The gym bag method works. If you feel the need to whine about the gym showers being somehow less than perfect or whatever other whiny complaint, then you're just making excuses.
The gym is the fountain of youth. Every time I leave, I feel better physically and mentally. No exception, not a single one. Your brain tries to trick you into not going. I don't know why. It's kind of amazing. So get in the door! Getting in the door is the entire battle.

LPT: If a friend starts experiencing any form of domestic violence start secretly collecting evidence for them as soon as you suspect something
The best thing you can do for a friend you suspect is starting to experiencing abuse is start collecting any evidence right away. Write journal entries and email to yourself, collect sound bites, pictures, etc. There's a great chance your friend won't want to hear your advice or opinions on the matter and will reject and need to realize what's happening on their own. As denial is a comom theme for victims of abuse theres a chance they don't have enough or even any evidence of abuse especially if its psychological. Once they are ready, having a paper trail ready for them to use is a huge gift.

clothes covered with ink, PLEASE HELP!!
I did my laundry last night and my boyfriend asked me to throw in his work clothes, which are all dress shirts and dress pants that he just bought 2 weeks ago and dropped $700 for.
I switched everything into the dryer last night before going to sleep and went to grab something for work this morning and started noticing little spots on the clothing. I tried not to freak out until I saw what it was that caused those spots, and then I saw it. A PEN. Worst possible scenario, I guess he left a pen from work in his pocket. ALL OVER his new work clothes, there’s just little spots and streaks, nothing huge but there’s about 5-8 spots per piece of clothing, so it’s very noticeable. I don’t really care about my clothes because they’re all just casual, nothing expensive, but I am in desperate need of advice on how to get the ink out of his shirts and pants.
I don’t want for him to have to get all new work clothes but I know that may be the only option, anything at all helps, we’re very desperate!! thank you!!

It hurts when you always end up feeling isolated .when people don't even show interest in your words. You are just handling it all alone. You fear that what if I share with someone and they judge you for being like that.It feels truly exhausting. Especially when you are handling it all alone. Even if machines get wear and tear then we are humans how can we be perfect all the time ? How's that possible?.But people around you want you to be like machines. If you start speaking they will end up questioning. There is no kinda acceptance in this so-called perfect world .If you are like them, they will accept you. If you are not like them, they will isolate and abandon. But I seriously can't be like them. I can't wait for company for every single thing , I can't be dependent on anyone, I can't ignore the actual beauty , I can't speak behind people's backs , and I can't do many things that they easily do. So I have chosen that rather than being like them I will end up being with myself. Choosing everything rather than just picking What I get. Yes , I have chosen this because the other way never attracted my gut. At the end you can just embrace what you have choosen.And you never know if you are asking for more , or this is basic.Its ok at the end you again wear the pride smile . Not allowing anything to reach your ears. But sometimes things do hurt badly. Sometimes we do need someone to open up. To show that how things have been hurting you for quite a long time.But you end up being calm ,silent.which you were never .This is how you are growing .The different path is of course not so attractive and flimsy but at the end it's satisfying that you are not cheating upon yourself and you are doing what you have always thought about. This difficult phase is making you ready for vulnerabilities. The moment your ego gets hurt when no one looks up for you , remember that it's good for your self growth.Because self growth happens in the absence of ego.Its damn hard , but it's okay.I have seen you growing so strong.and Trust me this too shall pass. One day you will thank yourself that during these toughest days you have always become your only hope and motivated yourself.If you are here then keep doing it, light will find you soon.✨
