The Continuation of Mujaddidin
Someone asked, ‘Will a Mujaddid [Reformer] come even after you?
The Promised Messiahas responded:
What is the harm in a Mujaddid coming after me? The prophethood of Moses, peace be on him, had ended. This is why his Khalifahs ended with [ Jesus] the Messiah, peace be on him. However, the dispensation of the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is to continue until Qiyamah [the Day of Judgment], so Mujaddidin will continue
to appear in it until Qiyamah. If Qiyamah spares annihilation,there is no doubt that someone else will come. We never deny that the righteous and pious will continue to appear. And then Qiyamah will suddenly strike.

"I have never claimed that being Massihiyat will be terminated on me and no any Massih will come in the future.On the Contrary, I admit and say repeatedly that not only one but more than 10000 Maseeh may come.And it is possible that he may come with apparent dignity and success, and it is possible that he may descend in Damascus"

Hadhrat Ahmad (as) thus had a broad understanding of religious history and a profound sense of spiritual experience. He did not reduce the concept of Islamic Khilafat solely to the category of leaders being elected by the assembly of people. For the Promised Massih (as), the Islamic Khilafat consisted of not only the four righteous Khalifas who were elected by people to preside over the Muslim community at a time when no divinely ordained Mujaddid was around. For him, Islamic Khilafat also included the divinely ordained Mujaddidin who were raised at the turn of every century.

6. اَلَاۤ اِنَّهُمۡ یَثۡنُوۡنَ صُدُوۡرَهُمۡ لِیَسۡتَخۡفُوۡا مِنۡهُ ؕ اَلَا حِیۡنَ یَسۡتَغۡشُوۡنَ ثِیَابَهُمۡ ۙ یَعۡلَمُ مَا یُسِرُّوۡنَ وَ مَا یُعۡلِنُوۡنَ ۚ اِنَّهٗ عَلِیۡمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوۡرِ ﴿﴾
Now surely, they fold up their breasts that they may hide themselves from Him. Aye, (even) when they cover themselves with their garments, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal. Surely, He is well aware of what is in (their) breasts
( Holy Quran 11: 6 )
The verse thus means that God has sent His Messenger because He knew the innermost corrupt condition of the minds of disbelievers,which demanded that a heavenly reformer should come. *Therefore, they cannot say that they needed no reformer.*

“If now is not the time for the advent of the awaited one, the earliest that he can appear now is after a hundred years. For a divinely appointed Reformer (Mujaddid) must always appears at the head of the century”. -----The First Address of the Promised Messiah (as) at the Annual Convention on 25 December 1897).

The Holy Quran says:
“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Apostle of Allah and Khataman Nabiyyeen–The Seal of the Prophets.” (33:40)
The real meaning of Khatam is a seal (see Tajul Aroos, Lisanul Arab, and Qamoos), and the phrase should be interpreted in the light of this meaning. Ibn Khaldun says it is wrong to interpret the word Khatam in this verse to mean the last or the end (see Muqaddama Vol. II, p. 54, Paris). He holds that the word Khatam denotes the consummation and completion of a thing, which he further explains by the words, authenticity, perfection and validity. When a seal is put to a letter it becomes authentic and complete. The seal may be put in the end or in the beginning. According to him, therefore, Khataman Nabiyyeen would mean the truest and the most perfect of prophets and not the last in point of time. It refers to his status and place among the prophets and not to the time of his advent.
Use of the word Khatam:
In one of his sayings the Holy Prophet(saw) calls his uncle, Hazrat Abbas(ra), Khatamul Muhajireen (see Kanzul Ommal, Vol. VI, p. 178). But it does not mean that Abbas was the last Muhajir (refugee) of the whole Muslim world.
Similarly, Hazrat Ali(ra) is called Khatamul Auliya (see Tafsir Safi under the Quranic verse 33:40). Ibn Khaldun says this phrase is understood to mean that Ali was a perfect saint and not the last (see Muqaddama, Vol. II pp. 165-167).
An Arab poet, Hasan bin Wahab, called Abu Tamam (the compiler of Himasa) Khatamush-Shu’ara (see Wafiyatul A’ayan Li Ibn Khallikan, Vol. I, p. 123, Cairo). Obviously Abu Tamam was not the last poet. The word Khatam, therefore, used in such phrases means the best and not the last.
They do not realize that such a thought is altogether sinful because our Holy Prophet(sa) has testified to the need for an Imam for every century(Book The Need For The Imam page 5)
