I posted a video yesterday of my baby rat struggling to drink water from a water bottle that was too high up, because I thought it was cute and funny (it was not). After a lot of constructive criticism from you guys, I have since deleted the post and lowered the bottle. Thank you for your help!

How to end a rat's suffering?
I am at my friends house and his dog just found a giant rat and was hurting it. Apparently the rat was already suffering and squeaking a lot, I got a towel and gently picked it up but he's bleeding a lot, his paws are basically only bone and he is barely moving.
I really like rats, but honestly know basically nothing about them and I really don't want keep it suffering but I don't know how to safely kill it, or if it's the best option.
Sorry if I come off as really ignorant, I just want to help it, even if it's by ending it's life.
Edit: Okay, for a little more context: I've saved a few wild rats before, but I live in Brazil. Here most if not all houses have rat traps and poison, so most rats you see are already poisoned or severely hurt. This rat specific, I picked up him very gently and his whole right paw was meat exposed down to his belly, with a lot of dry and new blood. His tail was also severed, along with his back also bleeding. He barely tried to escape when I held the dog back, and everytime he moved he would fall to his side.
Based on this, I was 90% sure he wouldn't made it even if we try. Sadly all vets in Brazil are so expensive and although I wish I could take him to the vet (which we searched and none in this 5,000 people city I am rn is open) I really don't have the money.
I tried searching Google well before I posted here but all the articles were really just telling me to poison him, I just wanted to help the poor boy. I tried my best to make it fast and painless, and we buried him with some flowers.
I don't know if this was the right decision but anyways thanks for everyone who took their time to answer and try to help me.
