Subject: Request to Allow Category Edit Option While Filling Application Form

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing this application to bring to your kind attention an important concern regarding the category selection/editing process during the application procedure for SSC recruitments, specifically in reference to the recently released SSC Selection Post Phase XIII Notification.

Currently, SSC does not allow any change in the category field once it is filled in the One-Time Registration (OTR) process. However, categories like EWS and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) are dynamic and may change annually depending on the candidate's family income and economic status. A candidate who may not fall under the EWS or OBC-NCL category in one year might become eligible in the next year due to a change in financial conditions.

Furthermore, the availability of valid caste/category certificates before the crucial date is often dependent on the issuing authorities, which can lead to difficulties in uploading the correct category status at the time of OTR. Restricting category selection to the OTR step only and not allowing editing during the actual application process prevents eligible candidates from claiming the rightful benefits of their category at the time of each exam.

In view of this, I respectfully request the Commission to Allow category editing at the application form stage for each notification, rather than fixing it during One-Time Registration.

Such a provision will bring flexibility, fairness, and inclusiveness to the recruitment process, ensuring that deserving candidates are not deprived of their legitimate benefits.

I hope the Commission will kindly consider this genuine request in the interest of transparency and equal opportunity.
