Accessing & Sending Phone Call Audio(of the other party) To The Server
I have an app idea for a school project, where I need to send the call recording of the other party to a server. I am running a nodejs server which is ready to receive a Buffer or Blob. So all I need to do is, make an app that will run on every phone call, and as soon as the call is finished, only capture the other party's audio stream, convert it into a Buffer or Blob and send it to the my server.
Is this possible to do in Android? I googled and found that there are certain limiations on being...

Private keys in Firebase Firestore, private app on Play Store
Hi,
I'm on my 3rd year of a CS degree and have been working on/with Android apps for quite a long time already. I've recently started developing an app for just me and my girlfriend and since I'm trying to make it run for free I've made a few choices that are questionable and some that definitely should never be done in a production app. I wanted to discuss some of these and see if there are any better alternatives.
1. Storing private data in Firebase
I have a large record of our shared m...

Resources to learn Android Development
I want to learn android development. I really like to create things, I have very keen interest in them. But as I started there are very limited free resources to learn android development. I checked out Android dev documentation, but honestly it has way too many information and it's difficult to them. I tried but i lost focus over there. Is there any other resources or articles to structurally learn android development?
Thanks for reading....

AdMob & GDPR form - ad unit deployment?
If you don't implement UMP before jan 16, Google will show the consent form for you, using an interstitial ad unit (this is called ad unit deployment).
How does that work? Do they replace your interstitial ad with the consent form and no interstitial ad is shown (aka you lose money)? Or do they show the form and depending on user choice the interstitial ad is shown next (or not at all if user does not give consent)?
Can this be tested right now or do we need to wait for jan 16? Really tried to...

Android build tool with remote caching and collaborative emulators
Hi, for the past couple of months we've been working on this platform called, Dashwave.
It's a remote build engine that works on distributed caching to fasten up your builds, even the local ones.
You can create your local/ci/release builds while simultaneously emulate them. The emulations can be shared as link and can be used for bug reporting/demo/presentation or any sort of collaboration. We're still building more features, mostly around analytics, collaboration on builds (in the event of fai...

Pre-load interstitial before requiring GDPR consent
I am trying to implement UMP before 16 january, i want to pre-load 1 interstitial personalized ad and 1 interstitial non-personalized ad when the app is loading, and a few seconds later, after it is finished loading, i ask for consent. If the user accepts i serve an either personalized ad or NPA, if they don't accept i don't show any ads.
It is essential for me to pre-load my ads first, ask for consent and then serve the ads (only if the user consent, if they don't i don't show anything), can...

Learning path
I've been learning programming, starting with Java and dabbling in a few projects. Instead of going down into the advanced Java and Spring framework route, I took a detour into Kotlin and Android development. However, I haven't quite stepped into the world of web frameworks and JavaScript yet.
So, should I consider broadening my skills with web frameworks and JavaScript, or is focusing on Kotlin and Android enough for a solid career?...

Using Google Ads to promote your Android mobile app
Hi there,
While this question might be more suitable in specific marketing/google-ads subreddit, but then again, usually people there don't use "app promotion" campaigns, so I decided to ask here. Also, for indie developers, this question might be quite interesting.
When we use "app promotion", Google decides where to show your ads on it's own. My question is, lets say your app focuses on cars. You create your app promotion campaign. Then after 4 weeks, you decide, that you need to adju...

Enabling Cmd Shortcuts in Android Emulator on macOS
I've recently switched from a Windows PC to a Mac (macOS), and am using the Android Studio Emulator for work. I'm struggling with copy-pasting text between macOS and the Android Emulator. On Windows, the Ctrl+C/V/A shortcuts worked flawlessly, but on macOS, the emulator doesn't seem to recognise the Cmd key for the Cmd+C/V/A shortcuts. Any tips on how to enable macOS shortcuts in the Android Emulator would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!...

About Admob UMP, do apps have to also prevent in-app ads from using user-data (promoting the developer's apps) ?
Suppose you have the consent dialog working for normal ads.
Should promotional ads of the developer itself also follow this?
For example, if you want to promote one of your apps, using your own code, without any server involved, and just checking that the other app is installed or not, is this ok? Or should you still use ad-consent for this, and prevent such ads from using any data till you know you can do it?
I think you can add your own app into the list of the ad-consent, so maybe it's use...

Android dev crash course
Hello,
I'm leading a team of experienced web developers that have been working in a hybrid cordova app. We want to have more capability at the native layer so are going to skill up in Android dev. If you had one or two days to devote what would you focus on? These guys are smart and experienced, so I think a lot of building a hello world app would be wasted. Also, we can skip ui since in our case it will be handled by a web app.
I understand Google has the best courses on this. Any part...
