autoVerify="true" doesn't set app link to be 'always open in app' on android 9 and 10

Hello everyone! Is anybody here experienced in app links on android? I have set my intent filters, set autoverify='true' flag and uploaded the asetLinks.json file to the corresponding website. Tested on android 14, all is well. The problem appears on android 9 and 10. Despite my link being verified through assetLinks, in my app's settings i still have my links set as 'always ask' instead of 'always open in app'. App linking still works, but instead of opening the app directly, system first shows...

how to progress as a android developer

I've been learning Android development for several months, by completing the Google Android Basics with Compose course and some official documentation. Now, I want to advance my skills, understand what's happening behind the scenes, and work on more complex projects. However, I'm unsure how to proceed. My college seniors have advised me to learn XML, which I don't mind since I enjoy being flexible. But it seems odd to focus so much on XML if Jetpack Compose is the future, especially since I hav...

Using room outside the android environment.

As an exercise, I had designed a Java artifact and was trying to publish it... but then I realized that If I wanted to use this artifact outside the Android environment it wouldn't work.

I'll post Kotlin code... but I'm aware that I need Java releases of room... for a Java artifact.

I began looking the source code and I realized room is too coupled with the android environment.

for example, line 1256 RoomDatabase.kt:

Is hosting user generated content in your app a bad idea?

I'm currently building an app for a niche hobby (fossil hunting) which will include a forum for id'ing fossils and general discussion and a place to review fossil hunting locations. Of course this would involve uploading images too. Something I only considered just now, is it it a bad idea to allow users to upload their own content to my server? Anyone with experience in this area?...

I need to mention that this is my very very first kotlin project ( not android because I already used RN and also some webview alternative). Can ...

Is transitioning to Mobile App Development a good idea for me

I am currently a Software Developer for a large insurance company. I’ve been here 7 months, and I love my team. The problem is I am bored of the work. My expertise so far has been in the area of Identity Access Management. Doing things like provisioning access, writing code that handles how employees get and have access removed from them, etc. I’ll be coming up on a year shortly, and I feel that’s a good time for me to transition to something more interesting for me. I really enjoy mobile app de...

Issue found: Violation of Subscriptions policy - any ideas why?

Yesterday we updated six of our apps. Three of them got rejected due to a Violation of Subscriptions policy. Needless to say that all 6 apps have the exact same upgrade/subscription screen, but only 3 got rejected. The reason for rejection is:
"Your offer does not clearly and accurately describe the terms of your subscription, including the cost, frequency of billing cycle, and whether a subscription is required to use the app"

Below is our upgrade screen. Can anyone spot the issue? Is an...

I just feel like I'm getting nowhere

Hello everyone, I would really like some help on the situation I'm currently in. I initially started my career in Android (and in software development generally) when I was 19. I worked at one company for just short of 3 years, and then another for about 9 months.

Right before I turned 23 I had a devastating nervous breakdown which brought an end to my career for what I thought would be just a few months. Well, I'm here 6 years later at the age of 29 still trying to get up and running in softwa...

What's up with Google play review team trying to delete provided accounts?

i submit both Android and iOS and both share the same account to login and review my apps.

However i noticed google sometimes trying to delete review account (multiple times) which causes iOS submission to fail and i had to create new account loosing a day or 2 during weekends. Because of this i had to tell backend developers to hard code the review account user id not to be deleted.

Anyone experienced the same problem?...

Advance notice - what elements this document need to have and is it too late for that sicne the app is already in production?

So, I just released an app as a business developer account, but this app is for another company I'm related to, actually it's an NGO and I'm also the president there. This app is using that NGO logo and brand elements from their website.

From what I learned, I should give them an advanced notice that I can use this.

1. Do you know how this advance notice should look like, is there any template?

2. Is it okay if the document is signed by me, will it look suspicious? Because I'm both the CEO of...

Starting my career as Java backend engineer but built my resume to start as an Android Developer

I had my first interview with a mid tech American company working in one of their offices in Poland, initially I was supposed to join the Mobile team in which I was greated and welcomed by their manager before my start date.

Few weeks before my start date, HR told me that there will be a reorg happening and I'll instead join a newly built org as a backend engineer with Spring. I was initially okay with that given that I built most of my apps in Java and that I'm still junior, but later on I fel...

Suggestions to a beginner android developer?

I'm new to Kotlin Android development, and I'm currently delving into Jetpack Compose. I'm working on a traditional login and registration process, and I'd like to integrate it with a database like SQLite. However, I'm struggling to find online resources to guide me through it. Whenever I attempt to implement it using XML instead of Jetpack Compose, I face some deprecated features. It's kinda frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestion?...
