How do I run Iperf3 on Android 12?

I am using Iperf3 from this website https://iperf.fr/iperf-servers.php in my android app. I use the code and compile it with android NDK ndkVersion = "25.1.8937393". It works when I run the app on a phone that uses Android 14 but it crashed when I execute the code on Android 12 or older versions of Android. Does anyone else have this problem or have managed to solve the problem

I have tried to use different networks to see if there is a connection error ...

Building E2EE for Our Open-Source Location Tracking App—Looking for Advice!

Hi everyone! 👋

A little while ago, I shared an update about Group Track, our open-source app that helps groups share their locations in real-time. The response from this community was incredible—thank you for all the feedback and support!

We’ve now started working on a big feature: end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for location sharing. Our goal is to keep location data private and secure while ensuring the app remains simple and user-friendly.

Since this is a tricky area, we’d love to hear your t...

I'm I still able to make build for Android 12?

Hello developers,

I have an Android app currently in production, and I've received a notice in the Play Console (https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/11926878) advising me to set the minimum SDK version to 33. I've made this change, so my app is now available for Android 13+. However, I still have customers using Android 12.

I'm wondering if it's still possible to create a build for Android 12?...

Hi,
I will be publishing an app that fetches the apk file from the android phone from the data folder and then uploads it to our backend server to test for a specific compliancy of the application being uploaded. I made a App Update Migration Library - Icarion

Hi everyone,

i've decided to publish a library i've created to assist me in data migrations between app updates over the years.

Many times i had to migrate some type of app created data to new storage locations, update SharedPreferences and Firebase settings, process or convert some app data or files which were not tied to a database migration, etc. At first this was done without some proper version/migration structure that would take care of it in the long run and this is the reason Ic...

ListDetailPaneScaffold detail pane memory inside NavigationSuiteScaffold

Hello,

I'm currently using a list detail pane scaffold inside a navigation suite scaffold.
The tab navigator controls what is displayed inside the list pane, that I use as my main pane.
Any secondary screen that is opened while interacting inside the main pane, is shown inside the detail pane.
This behavior is for large screens.
On compact screen, the secondary screens take the whole screen.

Now, what i'm trying to do on large screens, is keep in memory what is displayed on the secondary pane...

Can anyone recommend a good guide for steps to follow, tips and tricks, and things to be aware of when preparing to release an app on the Play Store? Where to list open source licenses?

I've seen some apps list licenses for open source code they use in the About page of the app (or somewhere else). I was wondering whether it would be acceptable to just list the licenses on the play store's app listing, or having a link to the app's website where a list of open source licenses is listed. ...

Am I only one who hates their job?

Hi all
Dear fellow developers, what struggles do you have on your job?

I've worked in a big company on a big Android project for 2 years. I didn't really like it because code was bad a lot of times and my coworkers couldn't write any decent code... I didn't like fixing bugs. Also didn't like working on new stuff. I was blaming bad code, bad developers and bad features, but now I switched jobs and feel pretty much the same!

The new job is also a big company with even bigger project (AOSP) and ...

Troubles with google play developer account verification

Hello, I have not been able to verify my identity in google console for a long time, because of specific documents in my country. Finally, I verified my identity yesterday, google notified me about this. And 2 hours later they notified me that they couldn't verify my identity and my account will be suspended on September 13, 2024, unless I verify myself.

I also contacted their support before, because they didn't accept my documents. They replied me(probably with AI generated response) that the ...

How do I integrate a custom entity extraction ML model in my app?

Basically the title, I have an app (Compose, if that helps) that parses text from notifications and I'm currently using Regex for the extraction. Now as the next step, I'm looking to improve the parsing accuracy and want to integrate a custom ML model for the same. (ML kit's entity extraction isn't relevant for the type of text I need to parse).
It needs to be happening on-device to ensure security, so Gemini API isn't feasible....

How to implement VPN split tunneling in Android's VpnService to exclude certain IPs from the VPN tunnel?

I am trying to implement split tunneling in an Android VPN application. Specifically, I want all traffic to go through the VPN by default, but certain IPs should bypass the VPN and use the regular internet connection.

For example, in the Shadowsocks project, their VpnService implementation routes all traffic through the VPN. I need to modify it to exclude specific IPs or websites from the VPN tunnel. Here's the shadowsocks VpnService code, the part I'm guessing should be modified is this: http...

User Data - Account Deletion Rejection

We've now had two apps rejected for this reason despite never having this problem in the past. In our app itself you cannot create an account.

Snippet from the rejection...

"The User Data - Account Deletion Requirement requires that if your app allows users to create an account from within your app, then it must also allow users to request for their account to be deleted. Developers are required to complete an accurate Data safety form that discloses their account creation practices.

Time for Change: Considering a DSA Lawsuit Against Google – Who’s With Me?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been dealing with some frustrating issues with Google Play that seem to violate several aspects of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). After consulting with a lawyer friend who’s familiar with the DSA, I’m seriously considering legal action and would love to get your input—especially if you’ve faced similar problems.

# Here’s What’s Happening:
