Why is a well-rated app almost never shared?

# Good Google Play reviews but almost no app sharing — what am I missing?

I’m working on an Android app that has:

- Solid ratings and positive reviews on Google Play
- Users who seem satisfied with the core features
- But very low sharing / recommendation rates

I’m trying to understand why positive feedback doesn’t translate into organic sharing.

From an Android dev perspective, could this be related to:

- The way (or moment) sharing is triggered in the app?
- UX friction or lack of a c...

Question

So long story short, my app was suspended for impersonating a government app.

The name was VA Tracker, meaning Veteran assistant tracker.

I had multiple disclaimers saying my app is not affiliated with the government. I had one disclaimer on app listing, one on my main screen, one in my resources screen and even had links to official VA websites.

Yes I appealed but realistically am I getting the app back or no?

I went in after suspension and changed name etc to comply but my package n...

sms flood protection

hi all,

I have an app, which uses sms authentication. You provide your phone number, you receice 6 digit number, you provided it back, you are in.

The issue is, you can call the api from a curl in a loop, and spam people. How could I prevent this?

\- One thing in place is limiting sms from one ip, but that doesn't seem like a complete solution

\- I looked at Play Integrity API, but this is not very convincing: https://www.reddit.com/r/androiddev/comments/1fhupub/play\_integrity\_api\_any...

I built an app to clean my gallery because I have 3,000+ photos. I’d love your brutually honest feedback!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on a new app called Swypic for the past few months. The idea came from my own frustration: I had thousands of screenshots, duplicates, and blurry photos clogging up my storage, but deleting them one by one was so boring.

So I built Swypic to make it actually fun—it works like Tinder for your photos. Swipe right to keep, swipe left to delete. It also has a review bin so you don't accidentally delete something important.

I’m currently looking for genuine feedback ...

How can I unlock my phone without a screen?

It turns out that I have a Samsung Galaxy A21s. Yesterday, after a fall, the screen broke and came off. I already want to replace the phone, but I want to extract my data first. Unfortunately, yesterday I didn’t notice the battery level and it powered off. Now the phone is asking for the unlock PIN, but since I don’t have the screen, I can’t enter it.

Is there any tool that allows me to enter the PIN from the PC, or remove the PIN? The phone has a fingerprint reader, but since it powered off, I...

How can I render PDFs without relying on third-party tools, while having full control over the UI so I can work with it as needed?

I’m exploring ways to render PDFs in an Android app without relying on third‑party libraries or services. Most existing solutions (like PDF.js wrappers, MuPDF, or commercial SDKs) either lock me into their UI components or limit how much control I have over the rendering pipeline.

What I’m aiming for is:

Full control over the UI so I can design custom interactions (highlighting, annotations, custom navigation).
Direct access to the PDF content so I can mine over it, for example, e...

DEV Looking for feedback on a minimal Android app focused on reminders for personal thoughts

Hi everyone,

I’m an indie Android dev and wanted to get some feedback from other Android developers.

I recently built a small app to solve a personal problem:
I often write down meaningful thoughts or quotes, but I rarely revisit them when I actually need them. So the app focuses on saving short thoughts and reminding you of them later in a calm, minimal way.

Key points:

very minimal UI (no feed, no social features)
local-first / privacy-focused
simple reminder scheduling
built to ...

Have anyone used a 12 testers service?

I saw one named testerscommunity and wanted to know if anyone used it and can confirm it's reliable, if you have any other services you'd recommend, that's great. Last time I published an app was before that testing requirement and would rather pay to get past this 12-tester requirement. I QA my app thoroughly, and the code is halfway decent since I'm a programmer by trade. Any recommendations about where you can pay to get through this tester hurdle?

Google Play keeps asking for the same “App Information Request” — I’ve submitted it 3 times. Anyone else experienced this?

Hey everyone,

I’m honestly confused and a bit frustrated at this point.

I got an email from Google Play saying they need more information to review my app and asked me to fill out this form:

They gave me 14 days, but I filled it out the same day. No confirmation email, no response, nothing.

How to implement push notifications for free in Firebase without Blaze plan?

Hello Everyonem, I’m a newbie to Android development and building a small Flutter app for my personal use. The app saves vouchers/coupons and I want to show reminders like:

Voucher expiring in 3 days
2 days left

Publishing OTP Authenticator App on Google Play — Any Requirements I Might Miss?

Hey everyone,
I’m about to publish an OTP authenticator app (TOTP/HOTP) on Google Play. It stores secrets locally, supports QR scan, and optionally biometric lock.

Before I submit, I want to make sure I’m not missing any Play Store policy requirements specific to OTP/authenticator apps (permissions, privacy, Data Safety form, etc.).

If you’ve published something similar — what are the common things that cause rejection or extra review?

Thanks!...
