LEGO Ideas completely resets voting on the 80s challenge in response to controversy
Folks might not be aware that LEGO Ideas had a bit of a controversy over the weekend, as two models from the same user reached the Fan Vote stage of the competition, which actually violates the "Fine Print" rules for the challenge. After user backlash, the LEGO Ideas staff responded by replacing the "Karate Kid" model (by user Delusion Brick) with the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" model (by user ModularManiac). In the interest of fairness to the newest competitor, anyone who voted before today's vote has been removed from their chosen build and returned to their account.
**Here is LEGO's official announcement of the reset**.

What I’ve Learned as a New AFOL
My husband bought me Starry Night 2 christmases ago and I never built it. Last Christmas I said what the hell and sat down to build it. I had never played with Lego as a child. So three days later I had an aching back and was HOOKED!
So….after only a few months of building (a lot) here are ten things I have learned. Would love to hear about what I don’t yet know.
1) Legos are relaxing. The directions are detailed. You don’t have to stress.
2) Legos are expensive. So speed building might not be a good investment. Pace yourself.
3) 3 in 1 kits can be cool. But build what you least like first. So you get to build all three and end up with what you like the best.
4) Huge sets are amazing but require a ton of space to display. Smaller sets are fun too. So bigger is not always better.
5) When building - tiny and unique pieces might be extras. But if you have something bigger leftover at the end of the bag you probably missed something.
6) These are legos, they fit. If they don’t you did something wrong.
7) Legos are not a great investment. They are toys! Don’t horde them to sell in ten years. Open the box and get to work!
8) Lego has excellent customer service. The one missing piece I have had was sent to me within a week.
9) MOCs are awesome ways to get even more enjoyment from your sets. I don’t have the brain to create them, but I have built a few. MOC creators are creative geniuses and providing us builders a huge service! Thank you!
10) For all women AFOLs - just forget about the manicures….reinvest that money into more legos!
