I think my ISP is mad at me
Lately, my torrent speeds have been UNUSUALLY slow (1d 12hr for 1gb file slow) and it definitely was not like that a few days ago. Even on very popular torrents! I am a bit worried that my ISP is throttling my connection or something. Im fairly new to this, so its not unlikely that I made some kind of security mistake. (I am using a VPN) Has anyone experienced a slowdown like this? Should I be worried?

Coming back to piracy after so many years of having money, now...
In 2015 i finished high-school and went to university where i got a hefty amount of cash for high grades.
Of course most of it went in steam and Humblebundle. Then in 2018 got my first job, then in 2020 moved to UK.
And i was hoping that everything stays the same: you know just buying games without DRMs, physical DVDs for bluray content and PS5 games.
But then 2024 came and this shit happens all at once:
- ubisoft says that customers shouldn't own games but instead pay for subscription services
- in US I've seen shops completely removing piles of bluray content from the shelves
- GAME stops selling used physical media...
- Bethesda updated skyrim and now lots of mods don't work (people who bought it are screwed)
- PS store at some point in the past removed lots of content (people who bought that were screwed)
- CAPCOM added DRM on some already released games making them unplayable on my steam deck (again consumers screwed.....)
For the above-mentioned reasons i will start sailing the high seas again. We are getting fucked.as consumers too much.
I am building an external HDD rack with a hot swapping interface between HDDs and PC. This way i can store anything i want there and actually "own" it.
I was also thinking besides the HDD storage of a collection of DVDs where i can store older titles especially those lost gems that cannot be found anywhere anymore, just on torrents.
Some of those gems are: armies of exigo, rise of nations rise of legends.. (i had more in my mind, can't remember)

Weird file names on gog
On gog-games(.to) there are now Baldurs Gate 3 "Japanese" files, and for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, the files are now labeled "modded".
Since when is that a thing? I am kinda irritated, and wonder why that is.

Do you have any interesting experience with offline piracy in the "real world"?
I'm not talking about the regular buying/selling pirate DVDs (diskettes, CDs...) to hawkers in markets that everyone older than 25 knows well, but about to more "unorthodox" stories of digital media sharing and distribution that you may want to share.
Broadcast files (piratebox, freedombox, etc), dead drops, installfests or security parties related to P2P tech, demo scene meetings, neighborhood DVD libraries with , etc, etc.
For obvious reasons, I don't care about personal details that may help to identify you, but mostly about interesting stories or ideas regarding "meatspace" digital piracy. I know I enumerated mostly non-profit ones, but if you have any interesting anecdote of for-profit piracy I would be happy to read it (for example, the Cuban black market of El Paquete).
My experience is a bit boring on this side of things. Exchanging mp3s at school, sharing photocopied books in university and doing annual projections of Halloween movies and short films for kids is all I have done.

The boom of "Kodi" boxes that happened years ago
From XBMC on a 1st gen AppleTV, I thought this would be a similar experience, but when I got it, the repo's were all kind of... dead.
Is there anything to do with an "Android" box that doesn't allow for a new OS to help convenience my brother and set it up? Remote play?
There is only an RJ45 and HDMI out connection, and it's shit, but I feel like creativity still needs to try.

It's slowly but surely shifting
I've been downloading stuffs since forever, limewire, early pirate bay, mirc, megaupload, local internet cafe, you name it. At first I mostly download something that I want, and with limited internet connection, I cannot freely download things since it would take forever.
As my internet getting faster, the variety of files that I want to download started to diverse. The usual movies, series, music, games, are still the majority of it. But now I started to download novel, audiobooks, text books, softwares, tutorials, operating systems, wallpapers,and por... Eh other stuffs.
I am flooded with content, I can watch anything I want, listen what I want, play games, anything, the problem is, I'm getting busy with life and don't have time like I used to. Still, I keep on downloading and piling up stuff.
Now I'm more of collecting the files rather than consuming the files that I downloaded. I found out that's what you call data hoarding, so it seems that I'm a datahoarder now.
I still download things just because I can without thinking when I will consume the media and I made peace with that. Anyone here is leaning more to download/pirate stuff just because they want to without knowing when you will consume the files?

First time pirating a game a legally own. Rockstar social club launcher pops up “ failed to initialize graphics device “ and doing everything from reinstalling the game to installing experimental gpu drivers didn’t fix it, but the fitgirl repack works.

Getting lots of errors when downloading books using libgen desktop app, any way to resolve this?
Guys im struggling with libgen desktop app, while downloading books, so many books wont download and turns into red color indicating an error, some files wont download no matter what i do.... i did sooo much tests... i changed mirrors, download timeout, download attempts, retry delay, even different vpns... but nothing worked... keeps getting errors for some books, and the books with errors wont download untill after 24 hours or so...
So guess what, my final test, at that time i had bunch of books having the error and wont download... so what did i do? I exit the app, changed the date of my laptop for the next day, closed settings, reopened libgen, and it worked... the downloads with errors started downloading again...
But the thing is after each downloaded book (the ones that got me error before) i have to redo the steps again
So it is an error in their app....
Is there any fix to this??? Or at least is there any other ways or apps to download the books from libgen?

How to you store all your pirated content?
Once you have downloaded all your favorite movies, TV series, YouTube channel archives, etc how do you store all the content? I've been trying to find a cheap way to store petabytes worth of content, and I am having a difficult time figuring out what the best way to do this is. My goal is to essentially create an archive of all my favorite YouTube channels, along with an archive of all my favorite TV series, and not only have an archive stored offline just in case something happens, but a Plex server with everything on it so that I can access it remotely. I have many questions:
0. How do you store all your pirated content?
1. How do you organize your content?
2. How do you keep track of what is on what drive?
3. I've heard that some people use a VPS as a storage server, is this true?
4. What do you think is the easiest way of going about this?
5. What do you think is the cheapest way of going about this?
Any feedback you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
