Every time I pay for something digital i end up regreting it and turning back to piracy.

When I was a kid I had 3 month long vacations that i spended at a family house without any kind of internet conection. One summer I made enough money to buy a laptop with my brother, and we downloaded from steam a lot of singleplayer games to play through the summer. When we arrived an started booting up games whe couldnt play most of them due to diferent kinds of drms. From that point in time I started pirating games because i realised i didnt really owned them.

Some years later when everything was on netflix and I got a 4k tv i got a subscription to avoid having to download films. It took me less than ten minutes to realize the quality of the stream was awfull, and i got a better experience with my downloads.

Fast forward to this week I went to download minecraft for the first time in years to play with friends. While trying to log in I found out I was suposed to migrate my account to a microsoft one. There was only one problem, I dont check out the mail of that minecraft account and there is no way to migrate accounts now, so I lost acces to one of the few games I paid money to play. I would love to be playing with my buddies but Im not paying again for a game I had.

IOS Shortcut for Bypassing Netflix Household

It seems many of us have been greeted by an unwelcomed message from Netflix when we attempt to login to our accounts stating, "Your device isn't part of the Netflix Household for this account." And while many of us can simply install a new APK and easily bypass this screen. Those encumbered by IOS, including myself, cannot. Until today!

The solution to this problem is to simply do the following:

>Close the app > activate airplane mode > reopen the app and then deactivate airplane mode

This solution was mentioned by u/NoGarbage898 in this post

Following the discovery of this solution I created an IOS Shortcut--as the name suggests--that limits the hassle of having to perform the aforementioned steps.

I'd like to mention that the frequency of this Netflix Household wall is a bit odd as it only seems to affect IPhones, at least in my case. I've tested it on my IPad and PC and I have yet to get a Netflix Household wall, however--at least for the IPad--this shortcut should still work if you encounter something different.

Here's a screenshot of the implementation for the shortcut. It's super simple and shouldn't be too hard to replicate. I hope this works for you. I can produce a more thorough walkthrough if need be, but I'm sure you guys can figure it out. Enjoy, my IOS friends!

WI-FI off =\> Airplane Mode on =\> Open Netflix =\> Airplane Mode off =\> WI-FI on

What to do if I can't seed torrents?

I'm living in a village with bad internet connection and the upload speed is nearly 0.5Mbps, so most of time I can't seed back and sometimes and I'm feeling embarrassed to the community. What to do if I can't seed back torrents?

TizenTube: Ad-free YT experience on Samsung TVs (and much more)

Hi everyone, I'm the developer of both TizenTube and TizenBrew and this post will be more focused for TizenTube.

TizenTube lets you remove ads and add SponsorBlock and DeArrow support and much more to the YT app on your Samsung TV (2017 and up). You have to first install TizenBrew to your TV and add @foxreis/tizentube to the module manager.

If you have seen it before and decided that the installation steps are not easy enough, TizenBrew (the module loader) is now even easier to install. You have to only install Tizen Studio, download TizenBrew from releases and run a single command. This can be done easier by a USB Flash Disk by using USB Demo Packaging Tool (will add a prebuilt one in later releases).

If you know JavaScript and want to make new modules, follow this guide. The only module currently is TizenTube and I'd appreciate if others also made new modules.

Hope you guys enjoy my creations! :)

Has Piracy ever actually put a company or service out of business?

I remember when napster first released many musicians were afraid theyd go bankrupt. Yet as of 2024, musicians still make millions and so do many other artists. I recall people saying sega dreamcast did poorly in sales due to piracy but in actuality It was because their competitor was the ps2. Was any company or product ruined because of piracy?

WHY PIRATES: In 2020, I purchased the "Mini Metro" app from the App Store for €10.99. The app hasn't been updated for the past three years, indeed it doesn't work correctly. Instead, if you have an Apple Arcade subscription, the app is monthly updated. Guess the name of the app I'll pirate next. ;)

Has anyone had their Google Drive account banned before? I had some Crocodile Hunter files there that I would share with people because the show is very very hard to find. Or, at least used to be anyway. Does anyone know why they typically suspend accounts and how do I go about getting it upsuspended?

Going back to a cracked version of Adobe CS6 is well worth considering than trying different CCs

I feel like I needed somewhere to share this, as someone might appreciate it somewhere, I don't know, but I was getting sick of my version of Adobe Photoshop CC being deactivated despite the many times I could firewall and reinstall it. I can't even remember the name of the uploader, but it's someone everyone here recommends. Anyway, so my girlfriend suggests this supposedly free version of CS5 called White Rabbit.

I download it from this mediafire link, do a virus scan straight away, and it's completely fine. I don't even need to install it, I can just create a desktop shortcut and it'll be right there.

The biggest things I notice is the performance, it is so much better than in CC, because thinking back, I'm sure even trying to create a path would have some delay to it. Apart from that, the UI is a lot friendlier, and in my opinion, nostalgic, but that might just be because I started taking graphic design seriously at around Photoshop CS3. Everything just feels cleaner, I don't need a 'homepage' and to see everything I previously worked on, as-well as everything else that just feels like it's shoved in your face. As for AI, fuck AI, all my homies hate AI.

I mention Adobe Photoshop CS6 in the title because if I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, but I'm sure CC was when they suddenly became Hitler and demanded your money on a monthly basis. If I remember correctly, a simple modified DLL file would mean unlimited use without worry.

I don't know why I didn't think to do this sooner, I guess I was just paranoid about it not being 'secure' or some shit, or I'd lose vital features I was used to using, but everything I used CC for was right here anyway, just with an easier interface. Sure I can't preview layer modes or fonts simply by hovering over them, but that's what CTRL+Z is for. All the hotkeys I use regularly are still there too.

Another tiny sacrifice is the older save/open dialogue, but again I prefer the simplicity. I'd also tried using GIMP previously, and I could not understand how to do anything in it.

Streaming services suck -- torrenting rules

Getting back to torrenting things again has been the highlight of 2024 so far. It has really rekindled an interest in music that has been more or less lost over a decade or more of sheepish reliance on streaming services (and acceptance of these services' limitations).

In one form or another, I've been pirating shit since the late 1990's. Come late 2000's/early 2010's things got more complicated. Or rather streaming services started to mature and other options got easier and more appealing. Plus, government cum capitalist surveillance was starting to become nightmarish, threatening life-altering consequences for the smallest infractions.

In the early days, Spotify Free was actually useful and full featured (for the time), notwithstanding the nuisance of ads -- it wasn't even very developed as an advertising platform when they started out offering the free service. When Netflix had it's early success as a streaming platform they still had a wide array of content that later got locked in on other platforms playing catch-up. In many ways these streaming services outcompeted piracy by offering a more convenient point of entry to most things you'd be looking for on piracy sites anyway.

However, what I think was barely talked about at the time, is that the streaming services also introduced a new way of consuming music and tv/movies (and later video games). When you're using a streaming service, it's easy to end up adapting your behavior and taste to the service. The question "what do I want to watch?" morphs into "what do they have?" unless you're willing to open a new subscription to account for your own taste.

Streaming easily takes the "you" out of the compliant consumer's partaking in culture. It walls you into the corporate corrals of the respective streaming services.

The streaming services of nowadays have started to market themselves as sophisticated and algorithmic "discovery engines". Prima facie, that is kinda cool and lets you experience a lot of awesome things you might otherwise have been blind to. However, being spoon-fed top tracks from great artists is another way to take you -- beyond the data points the streaming services have reduced your tastes, sensibilities and individuality to -- out of the equation. You don't have to want anything. And chances are, soon you won't want anything, regardless. Because what you're given starts to taste bland and same-y. Soon the spoonfeeding becomes a feeding probe, just as much (or more?) intended to keep you hooked up to the machine/service as it is to provide you some form of nourishment/benefit.

While streaming allows you to actively curate your experience (especially if you're willing to shell out extra money for multiple services), torrenting doesn't allow you to put your culture input on autopilot in the same way. But requiring your participation in culture isn't a limitation, it's a cornerstone of society that's not drowned in mediocre muzak and half-assed Netflix shows. Relying on other people, reviews and communities for culture recommendation instead of mega corporations and machine learning isn't a detriment to culture, it IS culture.

Freedom is hard work, but it's better.

F ADOBE

RANT......

I will never ever use any legal way to read books. I was trying to find the supplementary content that comes with the audiobook, but I was using Libby, and they don't have that content you need to go to overdrive of your library, then download the extra content that the publisher gives with the audiobook. Then you get a ACSM file and this sh!t requires adobe digital app to decode and download it from the adobe server, but again the stupid adobe would like to authorize your computer, and then it couldn't figure out if you're the real owner and started giving random error code, this stupid DRM overlapped with a meta-info data had fried my brain after trying a lot of stuff

Sorry I look stupid here

Why do some gaming studios use Denuvo but others don't?

Why don't AAA games like Starfield, Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk have denuvo when it's pretty much common for big games to get cracked on day one? Is it mainly to do with the fact that the companies already have a presence in the gaming industry so it's basically guaranteed for them to succeed when they release games? That being said, companies like Capcom have denuvo in their games for obvious reasons.
