I've learnt something recently that you might find interesting especially if you live (or come for a trip) in France. This also applies to books, CD videogames and DVD/blu-ray movies.

To be clear and simple, in France you can come in any public library (and many of them have hundreds or thousands of music CD) with your laptop, your external hard drives and your own CD drive(s) to rip music for free and unlimited as long as it is for private usage.
As long as you do it inside the library (because to be legal, you need to rip for private usage something that you can access legally and CDs in public librarys are legal as long as you do not borrow them and borrowing them by itself is still a gray area here even if librarys do not care and just offer the service anyway since years).
Don't forget to support artists directly if you really like some songs because music is not free to produce. But if you are poor or if you want to quickly startup a big collection of perfect quality 44.1KHz/16 bits FLACS while staying 100% legal (or if you just like free music because it's cool), here we have this other option rather than just sailing the seas.
It might also be a good option about CDs that are not sold new anyway since years, and buying them second hand does not support the artist anyway so ripping them in the library makes sense and looks very ethical in this case (and it is 100% legal haha). It can also be a way to find CDs that are not archived anywhere else in the internet.
What I find kinda funny is that this practice really smells like piracy, by duplicating tons of content for free from a single centralized place. But it's really legal and real libraries all around the country are organizing sometimes "copy-parties" events to incitate people to come with their scanners and CD drives to make private copies of everything (books, CDs, DVDs, blu-rays, CD videogames etc) from the library. Torrenting with Real Debrid?
I've been sailing the torrent high seas for about 22 years. However, I haven't tried RD. I recently learned that torrents work with RD, but I don't know anything about how it works. My main concern is IP address logging. What gets logged when torrenting with RD? I'm in the US, so I don't want any unpleasant surprises.

Piracy as a form of competition
Does anyone know about some notion about piracy as a form of economic competition? I remember reading about it, probably here even, but I can't find anything now. It was about a conception of piracy as a form of competition in which in lieu of money one had to acquire stuff through more inconvenient/dangerous operations, and about how it catered towards a sector who would not spend money on the non-pirated product either way.
Maybe I'm mixing multiple things or making something up, but I did not hallucinate all of it, so does anyone have a link or info about something like this?

Apparently, Netflix Europe has started airing Mad Men this month, but with an episode removed.
An r/madmen user reported that Netflix made an episode of Mad Men unavailable because it has a depiction of blackface.
For those who aren't aware, Mad Men is set in the 1960s in the USA, and said depiction of blackface is meant to be seen in a negative light, criticised by other characters. Worst even, said episode is very important in the narrative, for it establishes important main characters for plots that follow it.
Yet, instead of censoring one scene (which would have already been bad on its own), they decided to remove the whole episode altogether.
At this point I'm starting to wonder if even the purchase of DVDs/Blurays in the future will be affected by this kind of blind censorship.

Always have two folders: one for games and another for torrents because everyone should be a seeder. These are my tips for today. If you have some to share, like settings for being a good seeder, I would appreciate it.

Completely new to sailing, is a VPN and/or a debrid service really all it takes?
Being completely new to this, my only experience was downloading garbage from limewire way back when. I’ve read through the megathread and get the gist of what a vpn does and what debriding services do. My thing is, I’ve found usually if it’s too good to be true, it probably isn’t. So if I use the recommended browser and dns settings, have a good vpn, set up kill switches, only download/torrent/stream through a binded vpn connection on trusted sites, is that really all it takes to mostly stay (legally) safe? Is it really that simple? As I understand you don’t really need a vpn if using debrid service, but I’m sure there will be goodies to be had through the vpn regardless.

Accidentally torrented from 1337xx.to instead of 1337x.to
I only noticed once I realized the filter function was very off and broke the site, by this point I already downloaded a few torrents.
I only downloaded courses but are these files safe or would it be best to delete them? In all honesty I’m not sure which ones are from the clone site and I’d have to track my browsing history to make sure. I haven’t opened any of these files yet but I’m still worried there is some malware on them; nothing would be able to execute without me opening it, right?

Sponsorblock is being used maliciously in some LATAM news and content creators for censorship
I started to notice that some political content creators and news outlets have segments marked as "Transitions" when those are clearly not transitions but news or jokes on some situations or politicians fromm like Venezuela, Mexico or Cuba.
This amazing tools is being misused for blatant censorship, and the real transitions are being left there making what's left of some videos really short and full of sponsor and transitions (literally blocking content but leaving unblocked what the tool is originally designed to block).
Seems like the voting button is not doing anything in the revanced patched version of YouTube, only in the PC browser version. I was wondering if this kind of situation happen for people in other countries that have emm some "special" political situations.

Best ways to protect yourself online.
I see this question asked quite a few times, but it's hard to completely protect yourself online. What you can do is try to protect yourself online as much as possible.
So here are my two cents:
First and foremost, please use different passwords for all your accounts. I have seen people use a single password for a decade for all their emails, bank accounts, social media, etc. PLEASE DON'T BE THAT IDIOT. Also, your password could be leaked somewhere, so keep changing them at least once every six months.
Apart from that, use the TOR browser (The Onion Router). TOR is like a secret path on the internet that helps people keep their online activities private and safe from being watched. Get it here.
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on all possible websites.
To safeguard your IP, get a VPN. There is no direct answer to which is the best VPN, but overall, PIA (Private Internet Access) seems good as they have servers around the globe and have been around for a long time.
If you're not using TOR, use Ghostery. It blocks all trackers and ads and is available for all major browsers.
Using a private cloud (not Google Drive, please) to save your files online is also great. Google Drive is famous for snooping on your files. A good option would be Mega.
Using a VOIP number from TextNow or a similar service is to use it to pass checks on spammy websites which require a phone number. For emails, fakeemailgenerator of any sort will be fine (just google it).
This much is pretty much enough, and also, you don't need another antivirus (Windows defender is enough) but you can get one if that helps you sleep at night.
