Streaming services are pushing me back to the high seas... anyone else feeling this?
For the past eight or more years, I have been on the straight and narrow. When I first started making my own money, I understood the importance of creative work, even if I grew up pirating everything (who didn't? /s). I understand because I work as a software developer and QA myself. I'm willing to pay for anything — movies, games (not microtransactions), etc. Hell, I'm among the oddballs who continue to attend movies in cinema time to time.
However, I've been feeling like an idiot recently. While subscription costs continue to rise, content libraries are either stagnating or getting smaller. Not to mention the advertisements. I'm still bombarded with advertisements even though I'm paying for these services? What the hell? Then there's the issue of microtransactions in games.
It's getting to the point where I'm seriously considering hoisting the Jolly Roger flag again. I spent a good 10 years torrenting everything under the sun as a kid (our police was such that everyone "heard" that they were doing something about it, but no one ever heard of anyone going to jail for it or getting in trouble - unless you were downloading material "produced" in my country, in which case the ISP would let the police know), and honestly, the convenience (besides speeds of downloads, not so much seeders lately) is starting to look mighty tempting again. I know it's not "right" and creators deserve to get paid, but the current system feels increasingly exploitative.
Anyone else feeling this pull back to the dark side? Is it just me, or are these companies practically begging us to pirate their stuff? I'm genuinely conflicted here. Used to be firmly anti-piracy (except for truly lost media, obviously), but now... I'm not so sure anymore.

So i just torrented for the first time ever a month ago using jellyfin. I am never going back.
Been a lurker here for a long time. had a friend show me how to setup jellyfin. with the live tv add on. its just simply so good. i wish my shitty ass laptop would let me view 4k movies but its so old 4k files just act weird. but besides that this jellyfin stuff is amazing.
i plan on setting it up for my grandparents so they can cancel their youtube tv subscription.

I didn't trust existing cracks to not be viruses, so I had a stab at it myself. Very much worth my time. Literally all I had to do to bypass all the licensing on this piece of software was to replace License::isValid() with what compiles from return 1;
Cracking software isn't always hard. Also yes, I'm using the demo version of the decompiler. I probably could use the decompiler to crack the decompiler, but I can't be bothered.

I know this might be common knowledg to a lot of people here, but I actually came here for my consumption of media, including TV shows and films. Couple of books recently been coming out, and fuck man I don't have the money to do it. Found the website the mega thread recommends for books (e-book hunter has worked out the best for me) and holly shit do I feel dumb for spending thousands of pounds on books.
I mean why the fuck do I have to pay for historic books written by Lenin or Hegal? It's not like anyone in their family lineage is getting the fucking money. And if I'm buying it for a kindle anyways, your pdf file is not worth 15 fucking pounds. Thank you r/piracy, you guys have improved my life in a major way. Thanks to you my reading isn't limited anymore by my income.
Again for those who read this and intake this as common knowledge I'm sorry for clogging up your timeline, but I feel like this needs to be made into a post as this can be a massive game changer for any readers out there that only use r/piracy for films or tv.

HBOMAX destroying old shows by doing upscaling and interpolation
Decided to start watching the Boondocks since it was available on HBOMAX and quickly realized that the show was completely messed up due to upscaling (480p -> 1080p) and frame interpolation (smeary and blurry movement). Worst part is that not mentioned anywhere. Everyone that's paying the service to watch the show is getting a shittier experience.
Solution? Get the DVD version from the high seas.
Not sure why they'd rather waste bandwidth on a crappier "enhanced" version rather than just host the original one.

Cambridge advanced exam tools and materials
So, Im a teacher, and looking for any leads for materials for the Cambridge English Advanced books(C1 level depending on your country), particularly the audio cds for the listening portion, but the entire book also would be good.
I searched all up in the megathread, in archive, but either im stupid/blind, or I cant find anything.

Pirating a site behind paywall I have already paid for
I took subscription of a weekly online magazine for one year. My subscription is going to end soon and was hoping to have a copy of articles they published last year.
Unfortunately when my subscription ends, I will lose access to everything.
I have tried Fireshot extension but unfortunately the free version can only copy limited length of a page. I also tried saving webpage as html but unfortunately it's not showing the images correctly.
Please suggest what else can be tried
