Barack Obama reportedly advocated against Democrats nominating then-Vice President Kamala Harris in the wake of former President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential election — because he didn’t think Harris could win, according to an upcoming book.
The 44th president reportedly argued for an open convention rather than anointing Harris as the nominee after Biden’s shocking drop-out, despite her having support from other Democrats, according to reporter and co-author of “FIGHT: Inside the WIldest Battle for the White House,” Jonathan Allen.
“President Obama absolutely did not think that Joe Biden should continue, according to our sources close to President Obama and he also didn’t want Kamala Harris to be the replacement for Biden,” Allen said in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Tuesday. “He didn’t think that she was the best choice for Democrats, and he worked really behind the scenes for a long time to try to have a mini-primary, or an open convention, or a mini-primary leading to an open convention. [He] did not have faith in her ability to win the election,” Allen said.
“He was really working against her,” he emphasized.

BREAKING: Federal judge Araceli Martinez-Olguin (Biden appointee) in the Northern District of California has blocked the Trump administration from terminating funding for legal counsel for unaccompanied migrant minors. She has issued a temporary restraining order that will stop the Trump admin from ending the funding while the merits of the underlying case play out. The order will take effect tomorrow morning and last until at least April 16th. In her decision, she writes:
"The court finds that the continued funding of legal representation for unaccompanied children promotes efficiency and fairness within the immigration system."
Judge Martinez-OIguin was an immigration attorney prior to President Biden nominating her for the federal bench in July 2022. She was confirmed in February 2023.

The Trump administration is giving thousands of federal workers a second chance to walk away — and some, exhausted by months of chaos and fearing what’s next, are seriously thinking about leaving.
This week, at least seven agencies, including the departments of Defense, Agriculture, Energy, Housing and Urban Development and Transportation, as well as the Small Business Administration and the General Services Administration, are making a new round of offers for workers to leave their jobs, using the same Deferred Resignation Program that prompted more than 77,000 federal employees to voluntarily leave earlier this year.
The proposal would allow workers to resign now and be paid and keep their benefits through at least Sept. 30, according to the agency notices. But unlike the first wave of offers, which was coordinated through the Office of Personnel Management and gave employees weeks to consider their options, this round is moving much faster.
