Can this magic fuel clean up the shipping industry?
The shipping industry is responsible for three percent of global emissions. One of its best bets to get these down is fueling their vessels with #ammonia. It releases no carbon when burnt and is cheaper than other alternative fuels like methanol. The catch: building a specialized engine is extremely difficult – and there's pretty much no green ammonia production today. So can it really fix shipping's emission problem?

118 countries have agreed to triple installed global renewable energy generation capacity to at least 11,000 gigawatts and to double the annual global average rate of energy efficiency improvements from ~2 percent to more than 4 percent every year until 2030.
This means that the industry of renewable energy is facing both opportunities and challenges in the coming years. On one hand, the demand for renewable energy is increasing rapidly, driven by the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy security, and achieve sustainable development. On the other hand, the industry is also facing supply chain disruptions, cost pressures, policy uncertainties, and infrastructure bottlenecks that could hamper its growth potential.

The people of G_a_z_a are suffering from a chronic electricity crisis that affects all aspects of their lives. Israel controls the supply of fuel and electricity to G_a_z_a.
Even in normal times, electricity demand far exceeded supply, and most G_a_z_ans reportedly only received power from the grid for six to eight hours per day. 25% of the power is generated by Solar PV panels.
Israel targets solar energy projects in G_a_z_a, which are seen as a potential alternative source of power for the besieged population.
Israel has bombed several solar panels and batteries in G_a_z_a, and has prevented the entry of more than 100 solar systems that were donated by international organizations.
Israel’s actions are not only violating international humanitarian law, but also undermining the prospects of peace and stability in the region.

Exciting news from China's MingYang Smart Energy Group! 🌬️
They're planning a massive 22 MW offshore wind turbine with a rotor diameter exceeding 310 meters. This incredible innovation is not only the most powerful but also the largest wind turbine ever announced. It has the potential to significantly boost offshore wind farm efficiency and renewable energy production. 💨🌊
The 22MW turbine, which is expected to be built by 2024 or 2025, will have blades that stretch nearly the height of the Eiffel Tower. That means it can capture more wind and generate more power than any other turbine in the market.
The question that remains is: What could be the limit for the size of offshore wind turbines, and where might potential supply chain bottlenecks arise? 🤔

It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to all of us, to stand in solidarity with those affected by the recent earthquake along the Syrian-Turkish borders.
This devastating event has taken countless lives, with the toll continuing to rise, especially in the northern regions of Syria where inadequate equipment and resources are making an already dire situation even worse.
Very limited number of organisations such as #White_Helmets and #molham_team are able to reach the impacted areas in north Syria and courageously working to rescue families and offer support to survivors with almost bare hands and extremely limited resources. I strongly urge everyone to show their support by making a generous donation to help ease the suffering of those affected regions by this tragedy.

Chinese OEM CSSC Haizhuang Wind Power (中国海装) is rolling out a massive 18MW monster. It is a 260m rotor diameter! and is quite a jump up from the 16.7MW machine.
It has taken quite some time for the offshore wind industry in China to catch up to with the European big three turbine players but they have now taken the lead in turbine size. It will now only be a matter of time before the first Chinese machine appears in EU waters.

Four months ago, when MingYang unveiled its new giant 22 MW offshore wind turbine model, I inquired about the potential supply chain bottlenecks associated with adopting larger turbines. 🌬️
Yesterday, the market received news that GE has abandoned plans to manufacture giant 18 MW offshore wind turbines, which were initially announced nearly a year ago. 📰
While the race for larger turbines continues, perhaps it’s time to shift focus. Rather than solely pursuing bigger machines, we could channel efforts into enhancing operational efficiencies and developing a robust 15 MW supply chain that caters to both floating and fixed offshore wind installations. 🌊⚙️
However, here’s the crux of the matter: Will the colossal machines from China find a solid foothold in international markets, particularly in Europe? 🌍 Or will the supply chain bottlenecks—including challenges related to ports and vessels—remain a significant showstopper? 🚢🔒
What are your thoughts, experts? Let’s discuss! 💭🌟

Exciting news! 🌍
The #Xlinks project is breaking barriers, connecting Morocco's onshore renewables with the UK's demand using the world's longest high-voltage direct current (#HVDC) subsea cables spanning 3,800 km. 🚀 This initiative will generate 11.5 GW of clean power from Morocco's #solar and #onshorewind facilities, paired with a robust 22.5 GWh/5 GW battery storage, supplying 7.5% of the UK's electricity needs. 💡
Not just a clean energy solution, but a job creator! 🌱. The Xlinks project will create thousands of jobs, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen energy cooperation between #Morocco and the #UK. Supported by the #UAE, #TotalEnergies, and recognized by the UK government as a project of "national significance" Xlinks is paving the way for global collaboration in sustainable development. 🌐✨

Dear Followers,
While I've committed to maintaining our focus on Renewable Energy, I find it crucial to address the profound situation in
_Palestine_ over the last 75 YEARS. I understand some may not appreciate this departure from our usual content, but it's essential to speak up.
I've noticed a few dislikes on my recent post, where I shared verifiable facts. I believe it's crucial to acknowledge that many have been influenced by international media, which, unfortunately, has shown bias and contributed to the ongoing conflict, perpetuating a certain narrative.
It's disheartening that people may struggle to see the ground reality due to this bias. I urge you to consider alternative perspectives and, in that light, recommend watching a segment on the challenges faced by the people in G_a_z_a.

The UK today took a key step in getting its ambitious offshore wind build-out back on track, raising auction price caps and dedicating a pot of money to offshore wind – after AR5 flopped earlier this autumn with a developer no-show. In the AR6 auction opening in March 2024, the administrative strike price for fixed-bottom is increased by 66% to 73 GBP/MWh and by 52% for floating, to 176 GBP/MWh.

🔋#Green_hydrogen
India has approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission, an incentive plan of 174.9 billion rupees (U$2.11 billion) to promote #Green_hydrogen in a bid to cut emissions and become a major exporter in the field.
Under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Programme (SIGHT), two distinct financial incentive mechanisms – targeting domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and production of Green Hydrogen – will be provided. The Mission will also support pilot projects in emerging end-use sectors and production pathways. Regions capable of supporting large scale production and/or utilization of Hydrogen will be identified and developed as Green Hydrogen Hubs.
India plans to build electrolyser capacity of 60-100GW to help produce green hydrogen.
The Indian hydrogen mission is envisioned in three phases:
1. 2022-2024 – focused on developing policies, guidelines and undertaking pilot projects;
2. 2025-2026 – focused on early scale up of hydrogen production in the country, bringing costs down and facilitating policy-based incentives for large-scale production; and
3. 2020-2030 – a period focused on diversification of applications beyond the earlier adopter focused areas.

The new International Energy Agency #Global_Hydrogen_Review_2022 is out 🛎.
The challenge is twofold:
✅ On one side there is the need to bring down the cost of electrolysers – a sector that sees encouraging trend as manufacturing capacity is announced in significant expansion.
✅ On the other side the key element is to create a robust and sustainable demand for hydrogen use, an area where are emerging important signs of progress especially in the steel #production, transportation and #electricity generation.
The report also suggests several steps for governments to reduce risk and improve the economic feasibility of low-emissions hydrogen.
