The base is located at a strategic point near the border of Sudan and Chad (thus the west Sahel). It's also located near the gold mines of the Kuri-Bougoudi region.

According to several Sudanese military journalists, the base will belong to the Russian Defense Ministry's 'Afrika Corps', a group that split off from Wagner, and also former Bashar al-Assad's military officers that fled from Syria.
