US presidential elections too much for some Americans, Californians especially seek escape abroad — Report
A growing number of Americans, particularly Californians, are planning to move overseas, citing the divisive nature of US politics as their primary motivation, according to a new report. The LA Times spoke with global migration experts who have documented a surge in Americans seeking to relocate since 2020, with many hailing from the Golden State.
The trend appears to be exacerbated by the current election cycle, with reports of increased website traffic for companies assisting with overseas relocation coinciding with the 2024 presidential election.
Jen Barnett, founder of Expatsi, a firm that assists Americans to move abroad, saw a 900% spike in website traffic following the first presidential debate between President Biden and former President Trump, with further increases observed in the final weeks of the campaign.

While most Americans will likely wake up on Wednesday, November 6, and move on with their day regardless of the election outcome, students at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy will have a different option: a "Self-Care Suite" complete with Legos and snacks.
The school's director of student engagement, Jaclyn Clevenger, acknowledged the stress of the election in an email to students, inviting them to "take a much-needed break" with mindfulness activities in the school's Commons.
According to the timetable of activities, students will be able to engage in Lego play, coloring, mindfulness exercises, milk and cookies, and other self-care treatments.

In the key swing state of PA, Cambria County faces a manual ballot counting process due to a software glitch at a polling station.
