The move follows a surge in nonconsensual content and public concern, with many women removing photos and videos from Instagram, Facebook and other social media accounts and rallying for stronger protections.
President Yoon Suk Yeol ordered a crackdown on digital sexual crimes, which will continue until March 2025. New laws will impose up to three years in prison for watching or possessing deepfake porn.
Producing or distributing it could now result in up to seven years in prison.

5 dead after private jet crashes into vehicle in Arizona
A small jet crashed into a vehicle shortly after taking off from a suburban Phoenix airport in Arizona, killing five people, police reported.
The Honda HA-420 light business jet went down after departing Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, striking a vehicle off airport grounds at 4:40 p.m., according to the FAA. News footage showed a large fire on a road near the airport.
Police confirmed five fatalities at the scene but did not specify if they included any vehicle occupants. The FAA, NTSB, and Mesa authorities are investigating, with no further details yet available.
