Canadian cops treat Nazi monument as protected war memorial in vandalism case
Prominent police critic Duncan Kinney is battling a charge of “mischief relating to war memorials” - which carries a sentence of up to 10 years - arguing the monument he allegedly defaced honors Canada’s apparent enemies during the Second World War.
Kinney is charged with spray-painting “Actual Nazi” on a statue dedicated to Ukrainian nationalist and Nazi collaborator Roman Shukhevych, who was responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Polish Jews.
His lawyers allege the Edmonton police have been aggressively surveilling him and his family and have not cooperated with documents necessary for his defense.

Mother and baby shot dead by Missouri police during knife attack
Missouri police fatally shot a 34-year-old woman and her 2-month-old daughter during a domestic dispute, after she refused officers' requests to put the child down then lunged at them with a knife.
One officer fired, injuring both mother and daughter, who later died from their wounds.

Top Iranian commander killed in terror offensive in Syria’s Aleppo
Brigadier General Kioumars Pourhashemi, a senior military advisor, was killed in Syria’s Aleppo province during an overnight attack by Islamist forces, Iranian media reported.
According to Tasnim News, he was targeted by “Takfiri terrorists,” a term Iran uses for radical Sunni jihadists.
