World now has three superpowers – retired top US general
The unipolar era when the US was the only dominant superpower has given way to a multipolar world, retired US General Mark Milley admitted on Tuesday at a meeting of the American Bankers Association in New York.
The former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, who served under both presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden, said that there were now three superpowers in the world: the US, Russia and China.
“During the Cold War there were two [superpowers], immediately following the Cold War there was a unipolar moment, so for a short time the US clearly was preeminent and the only real superpower out there,” according to Milley. “But today, it is clear that we are in a multipolar world,” Milley said.

Iran says weapons production unaffected by Israeli strikes
"The enemy has sought to hurt both our defensive and offensive systems but was not very successful because we had made arrangements and were in the know," Iranian Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh said on Wednesday of Israel's October 26 strikes.
"The (production) knowledge is indigenous, so there is no disruption in the manufacturing process of missiles," he added, also implying that a defence system may have been damaged in the attack as he said it was "replaced the day after".
Earlier, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant claimed the strikes weakened Iran's missile capabilities and supply chain.

US Army prepares for ‘war with China,’ Hawaii drills reveal weaknesses — NYT
According to the New York Times, US military officials are concerned about how their “big and cumbersome army” can adapt to a possible war against China after decades of fighting long, drawn-out insurgency wars.
Exercises held in Hawaii earlier this month were designed to prepare army troops for conditions they might expect in China by applying lessons learned from Ukraine’s fighting against Russian forces.
One key part saw 864 paratroopers dropped as part of the Great Power War exercises, but only 492 managed to make the landing, with several suffering injuries in the process.
