Hurricane Milton will push 2024 insured losses over $100 billion — Fitch Ratings
Hurricane Milton could cause up to $50 billion in losses for Florida property owners. Insurers estimated losses over $100 billion in 2024 alone, Fitch Ratings said in a report.
On Thursday morning, the Category 3 storm cut a destructive path, killing at least 10 people and leaving millions without power.
But the state appears to have avoided the "worst-case scenario" outlined by analysts, since they thought Milton would cost $100Mln alone, making total yearly costs double.

Musk's X doesn’t meet gatekeeper standards for EU tech rules — Reuters
Elon Musk's X will not be a gatekeeper for the landmark EU tech rules known as the Digital Markets Act (DMA). X, formerly known as Twitter, had previously told the Commission that even though it met the number of users to be a gatekeeper, it does not qualify for the other criterion.
The DMA requires gatekeepers to make their messaging apps interact with rivals, let users decide which apps to pre-install on their devices and are not allowed to favor their own services over rivals or risk fines as much as 10% of their annual global turnover.
The European Commission, will announce their decision on their investigation into X, next week.
