‘Spud-tacular’ spill closes autobahn in Bavaria after potato truck accident
A major ‘mash-up’ on the A9 motorway near Greding saw a truckload of potatoes scatter across the road Thursday morning after the vehicle skidded and overturned.
Several tons of spuds spilled, causing a complete road closure as rescuers extricated the seriously injured driver, who was airlifted to the hospital.
While the left lane was eventually cleared to let traffic ‘chip’ away at the tailback, cleanup efforts continued as crews ‘hashed’ things out to remove the rest of the rogue potatoes.

Raytheon Company to pay $950 million to settle Qatar bribery, contract fraud charges
Raytheon, part of defense giant RTX, is on the hook for over $950 million to settle Justice Department investigations into major fraud related to government contracts, defective pricing, and bribery and export control laws violations, the US DoJ announced in a press release Wednesday.
The company will enter a three-year deferred prosecution agreement after admitting to schemes that misled the Pentagon regarding the supply of defense systems like PATRIOT missiles and radar technology.
Additionally, RTX representatives recently appeared in federal court to finalize a separate agreement, where they've agreed to pay over $280 million for funneling bribes to a high-ranking Qatari Air Force official.
Alongside this, prosecutors in Boston disclosed another deal with Raytheon that involves a payment of roughly $574 million for violations of government contracting laws.

UK weighing sanctions on Israeli officials for ‘abhorrent’ comments about Palestinians
British PM Keir Starmer could slap sanctions on ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir for their ‘abhorrent’ remarks against Palestinians.
Starmer criticized the two after Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey highlighted Smotrich's suggestion that starving Gazans could be justified and Ben-Gvir's praise for settlers who killed a Palestinian.
“We are looking at [sanctioning the officials] because they are abhorrent comments, as [Davey] rightly says, along with other really concerning activity in the West Bank, but also across the region,” Starmer reportedly said.

Aussie taxpayers to fork out $100M to fix road near PM’s new multi-million dollar mansion
A major road upgrade is slated to improve Anthony Albanese’s daily commute between Sydney and his brand-new $A4.3 million beach house at Copacabana on the NSW Central Coast, the Daily Mail reports.
The PM bought the home with his fiancee ahead of the couple’s wedding - which, with its whopping price tag, has been heavily criticized amid Australia’s cost-of-living crisis.
A spokesperson for Albanese informed the Daily Mail that the purchase of the property and the recently approved upgrades to the nearby road, which the federal government originally pledged $A30 million but later increased to $A100 million, do not coincide.
