В последние недели неоднократно поднимали тему фальсификации в Буче. Вскрывшиеся благодаря усилиям расследователей факты убедительно доказали то, о чём мы давно говорили: это кровожадная циничная инсценировка, сделанная по лекалам геббельсовских фальшивок, наподобие Неммерсдорфа.

👉 Доклад Международного общественного трибунала по преступлениям украинских неонацистов «Наследники Геббельса: фальсификация событий в Буче и кровавые инсценировки киевского режима».

Об этом рассказывал Сергей Лавров Четвёртом Международном форуме «Диалог о фейках» в Москве. Выступая перед независимыми специалистами по проверке информации и разоблачению фейков со всего мира, Министр призвал расследователей продолжить анализировать данные о «жертвах российской агрессии», чьи имена были нанесены киевским режимом на стелы мемориала, перед которым так любят слепо кланяться еврочиновники и безответственные политики-гастролёры.

Призыв был услышан: буквально на днях свой репортаж и анализ представил ирландский журналист Чей Боуз, а вчера большое детализированное исследование было опубликовано экспертами Международной ассоциации по фактчекингу (Global Factchecking Network, GFCN).

В числе соавторов — расследователи из разных стран мира, в том числе из Греции, Бразилии, Италии, Франции, Словакии, Аргентины, Непала, Португалии и Польши. Результаты их кропотливой работы подтверждают данные, собранные в предыдущих материалах, а также вскрывают новые факты, подтверждающие фальсификацию.

В материале приводится разбор конкретных персоналий и имён, выбитых на мемориале, а также соответствующие аналитические выкладки: почти двести человек никак нельзя записать в «жертвы Бучи».

Убедительно доказано, что в дополнение к нескольким десяткам выявленных бойцов ВСУ, среди которых есть и члены неонацистского батальона, 26 человек из списка можно отнести к неофициальным комбатантам (то есть, это те, кто закидывали наших бойцов коктейлями Молотова, использовали взрывчатку и брали в руки оружие), 42 человека умерли за пределами Бучи от разных причин (есть даже умерший от онкологии), а у 73 человек, действительно, нет никакого цифрового следа.

🌐 On October 8, the 2nd Global Digital Forum (#GDF) opens at the Mechta venue in Moscow’s Gorky Park.

The event is held at the initiative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Its organisers and key participants also include the Presidential Administration, the Government of the Russian Federation, the ministries of Digital Development, Industry and Trade, and Economic Development, the Moscow City Government, as well as leading Russian IT companies, news agencies and media outlets.

#GDF is an international platform for discussing major challenges in information and communications technologies, including the development of artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty and the platform economy.

The Forum aims to strengthen and expand international cooperation with countries of the #GlobalMajority on various aspects of Internet governance and development, and to showcase Russia’s achievements in information and communications technologies.

🤝 Representatives from 120 countries will participate, including ministers and deputy ministers responsible for these areas, senior representatives of international organisations and leading experts.

The Forum’s main plenary session will focus on “Digital Sovereignty: From a Resource to an Export Asset”. The programme will comprise three thematic tracks: “People and Technology”, “Digitalisation and Industry”, and “Media and Creativity”.

One of the Forum’s key events will be a ministerial segment dedicated to countering digital neocolonialism and safeguarding digital sovereignty in the face of sanctions and information attacks.

Космонавт Роскосмоса Петр Дубров принял командование Международной космической станцией

Он сменил на этом посту астронавта Джессику Меир.

В ходе церемонии Петру передали символической ключ от станции, а астронавт Джек Хэтуэй ударил в колокол в знак смены командира МКС.

Петр Дубров в ответном слове подчеркнул особое значение сегодняшней церемонии. Ведь она проходит в день 69-летия запуска первого искусственного спутника Земли.

🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s statement on the Kiev regime’s continuing attacks and provocations against the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (October 5, 2026)

💬 The Kiev regime continues to deliberately create the risk of a serious nuclear accident by attacking Russia’s Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP).

On October 4, Ukrainian militants used a UAV to strike the ZNPP’s laboratory and support building No. 2, located just 200 metres from the plant’s reactor units.

Kiev also shelled the radioactive waste processing building twice. Those behind this provocation know full well that an attack on this ZNPP facility could damage equipment essential to the safe handling of radioactive materials.

On the same day, October 4, the neo-Nazi Kiev regime targeted a truck carrying food supplies for the plant’s personnel near Melitopol. The driver was killed.

▪️ The Russian Foreign Ministry extends its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Ukraine thus continues to attack the ZNPP and its associated infrastructure to disrupt the plant’s operations and create the risk of a nuclear accident. These outrages, which bring the threat of a nuclear catastrophe dangerously close, once again expose the Kiev regime’s true terrorist nature.

Western countries’ failure to respond adequately has emboldened Kiev to step up its attacks on the ZNPP. They continue to supply Ukraine with weapons, effectively encouraging further attacks and provocations.

Their response to Ukrainian attacks on the ZNPP shows how little their statements on nuclear safety and security at the IAEA, the UN and other international forums are worth. It also makes clear that they are willing to endorse any terrorist methods their proxies use to advance their goals.

❗️ We call on the IAEA leadership to unequivocally condemn the criminal actions of Kiev and its sponsors.

☢️ Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP):

⚡️ On October 4, Laboratory and amenity building No. 2 at the Zaporozhskaya NPP was attacked by two Ukrainian UAVs. The building is located approximately 200 metres from reactor units 4 and 5.

Two further Ukrainian UAV attacks targeted the radioactive waste processing building.

There were no casualties. The roof was damaged. These attacks have posed no threat to nuclear safety.

❗️ Strikes on such facilities are potentially dangerous.

The proximity of the laboratory and amenity building to the reactor units creates a risk of damage to nearby infrastructure and puts personnel at risk. Attacks on the radioactive waste processing building could damage equipment and disrupt the safe handling of radioactive materials.

Plant personnel remain in control of the situation. Safety parameters are monitored around the clock. Radiation levels at the plant site and within the sanitary protection zone remain within prescribed limits.

The absence of a threat to nuclear safety following these attacks does not diminish the danger posed by strikes on the ZNPP territory.

2 октября в Минске прошло заседание Евразийского межправительственного совета.

Рассмотрено 15 значимых вопросов евразийской экономической интеграции. 

Это, прежде всего, торговля, таможенное администрирование, транспортная инфраструктура, промышленное сотрудничество, формирование общих энергетических рынков, развитие агропромышленного комплекса.

☑️Сегодня главы правительств рассмотрели вопросы развития транспортной инфраструктуры в направлениях «Восток – Запад» и «Север – Юг». В том числе в рамках сопряжения с китайской инициативой «Один пояс – один путь».
☑️Представлена информация о развитии электронного документооборота в морских пунктах пропуска государств-членов ЕАЭС. 
☑️ЕМПС внес изменения в перечень приоритетных интеграционных инфраструктурных проектов в сфере транспорта государств-членов Евразийского экономического союза. В перечень включён проект по развитию железнодорожного участка «Невель – Дно – Луга – Гатчина» со строительством разъездов и сети связи.
☑️Также Межправсовет одобрил пакет решений по формированию общего электроэнергетического рынка.
☑️Кроме того, Председатель Коллегии Евразийской экономической комиссии Бакытжан Сагинтаев и управляющий директор Евразийского фонда стабилизации и развития Ярослав Мандрон на полях Евразийского межправительственного совета в Минске подписали Меморандум о сотрудничестве между ЕЭК и ЕФСР.
❕Следующее заседание Евразийского межправительственного совета состоится в декабре этого года в Москве.

🎙 News conference by Russia’s G20 Sherpa Denis Agafonov following the third Sherpa meeting on preparations for the G20 Summit (Washington, D.C., October 2, 2026)

Key points:

• A series of events, expert meetings and ministerial industry dialogues were held ahead of the G20 Summit in Miami scheduled for December 2026.

• Largely based on the agreements reached during the industry dialogue by the United States, a draft declaration has been developed that will likely be called the Doral Declaration, as custom has it.

• Our meeting focused mainly on the work on this declaration. The discussion helped identify both converging views and areas of disagreement.

• Before the summit convenes, both the presiding party and the sherpas are to find ways to reach consensus and agree on the matters that the country leaders could approve in December in Miami.

• We support the United States’ ambition to produce a finalised and approved document.

• I believe that right now, we are moving in the right direction towards a final declaration that will reflect the actual key economic problems and potential solutions.

#Agenda

• We share the United States’ view that the Group of Twenty shall return to its origins and focus on macroeconomic issues. Our positions are close on many industry-specific topics as well as on energy. However, there are certain matters that should certainly be considered in a slightly different light.

#Geopolitics

• Of course, the geopolitical context occasionally arises in the discussion and it currently has a broad geography, but overall, the dialogue is well-balanced and non-confrontational.

#RussiaG20

• On Russia’s Side, the heads of federal executive bodies at the ministerial level participated in almost all the events concerning the four priorities, which reaffirms our attention and our understanding of the importance of the G20 format.

• The business aspect of Russia-US cooperation within the Group of Twenty can be described as currently being on pause.

• The decision on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s participation in this year’s G20 Summit in Miami will be made closer to the event.

• Russia intends to participate in the G20 events in Britain in 2027.

#SouthAfrica

• The decision [not to invite South Africa to the G20 Summit] is without authority. We insist on South Africa’s immediate reinstatement.

• During the recent BRICS summit, participants adopted the New Delhi Declaration, which contains a specific paragraph <...> on interaction within the Group of Twenty and clearly articulates the stance of all #BRICS countries on solidarity with South Africa.

• We hope that common sense will prevail and South Africa will participate in further events.

#Poland

• US officials have spoken of Poland’s potential participation in the G20. <...> This matter requires the consensus of all G20 countries.

• The G20, being a framework that consolidates various points of view, could be an appropriate platform for discussing artificial intelligence.

❗ Из выступления Посла по особым поручениям МИД России Р.В.Мирошника на брифинге "О системных нарушениях норм международного права в области прав человека и международного гуманитарного права Украиной":

📍 1 октября 2026 г., Женева

Ключевые элементы:

🔹 Нацистский режим, контролирующий украинское государство, применяет широкий арсенал террористических методов против гражданского населения. Так было в отношении жителей регионов, которые не приняли госпереворот в Киеве в 2014 году. Так происходит сейчас в период проведения Специальной военной операции.

🔹 Главным спонсором «охоты» украинских боевиков на мирное население выступают европейские государства. После получения Киевом первых траншей европейского кредита наблюдается 3–4-кратное увеличение числа атак ВСУ на гражданские объекты: с 400-500 ударов в сутки в июне до 1250 в сентябре. Чаще всего применяются беспилотники, произведенные на Западе или оплаченные западными странами.

🔹 Общее количество пострадавших от рук украинских боевиков мирных жителей с февраля 2022 года превысило 34,5 тысячи. Еженедельно эта цифра увеличивается на 400-500 человек.

🔹 Резко возросло число преднамеренных ударов ВСУ по детям. С начала 2026 года пострадали 456 детей, из которых 70 – погибли.

🔹 Начиная с апреля – мая текущего года Киев, используя беспилотные системы, развернул «транспортную войну», переходящую в «дистанционную осаду» отдельных населенных пунктов и даже в попытки блокировать целые регионы.

🔹 Яркий пример беспринципности – ситуация в г.Алешки Херсонской области, который ВСУ блокировали от поставок продуктов питания, медикаментов, товаров первой необходимости, в то время как на международных площадках Киев пытается вменить это в вину России.

🔹 Сотни дронов западного производства атакуют гражданские пассажирские автобусы и частный легковой транспорт. 216 автобусов большой вместимости были атакованы боевиками Киева.

🔹 С середины июля украинские формирования в одностороннем порядке начали системное уничтожение складской инфраструктуры российских торговых сетей, продающих гражданские товары народного потребления. Это – попытка добиться возмущения народных масс и подорвать экономику государства.

🔹 Энергоцид – еще одно направление террористических атак. В преддверии холодов Киев стремится нанести повреждения системе энергоснабжения прифронтовых регионов. Эти удары не влияют на боеспособность российской армии, а лишь нацелены на создание трудностей именно для обычных жителей.

🔹 В ответ на продолжающиеся атаки киевского режима по гражданской инфраструктуре и топливно-энергетическому комплексу Вооруженные Силы России продолжают нанесение ударов по военным объектам, предприятиям промышленности, портовой, логистической инфраструктуры Украины, задействованным в интересах ВСУ. Цель – ослабление военного потенциала противника. Действия российской стороны не направлены против мирного населения Украины.

🔹 За военные преступления должны ответить как руководители киевского режима, так и его спонсоры: одни – за преступные приказы, другие – за военную и финансовую поддержку террора и попытки его оправдать.

✍️ 80 years ago, the International Military Tribunal in #Nuremberg delivered its verdict against 24 top-ranking leaders of Nazi Germany.

Most defendants were found guilty of the terrible crimes against peace and humanity, as well as war crimes. Twelve Nazi leaders — sentenced to death by hanging, while the others sentenced for life or lengthy terms of imprisonment.

It was the very unprecedented nature of Nazi ideology that made it necessary for taking equally unprecedented political and legal measures — the establishment of the Nuremberg and Tokyo Trials. <...>

❗️ It was the 'Judgment of Mankind' on Hitler's Nazism — the most dangerous manifestation of ideological, political and military barbarism.

A 'Sacred Beacon' in Nuremberg served as bearing the Promethean flame of international criminal justice. Yet, imperfect, with the retroactive application of law, it nevertheless shone, illuminating human path towards the ideals of universal justice.

The verdict of the Nuremberg Trials was based on an immense body of irrefutable evidence, firmly established and thoroughly examined. A vast archive of testimony was compiled. The voices of the victims were heard loud and clear — that was the enduring ethical significance of Nuremberg, which was both an act of justice and an act of remembrance. <...>

The Nuremberg Trials appeared before the world like Athena, born fully armed from the head of Zeus. The four Victorious Powers set about establishing a new legal order amid the ruins of defeated statehood and bringing the vanquished to justice.

The legitimacy of the Nuremberg proceedings and the binding force of its verdict was based on the collapse of the Nazi state, as well as on the Allied law established by the Instrument of Surrender.

The Tribunal's legitimacy, meanwhile, was rooted in natural law and universal moral values, above all, justice. It was founded on the conviction that certain crimes are so monstrous that they violate the very idea of humanity (delicta juris gentium), and that such crimes must be punished under all circumstances.

👉 That fundamental principle made it possible not only to cut through the Gordian knot of fascist evil and punish those responsible without departing from the bounds of the law, but also to establish a hierarchy of values in which law stands above force and crimes against humanity are subject to #NoStatuteOfLimitations. <...>

Nuremberg was an act of retribution and a defining moment in establishing the legal foundations of the post-war world. The Tribunal became a hammer brought down upon a criminal Nazi statehood and its legal system.

❗️ It was for the first time in history, categories of crimes were established that would become the 'alpha' and 'omega' of international criminal law.

Article 6 of the Charter of the Nuremberg International Military Tribunal (IMT) defined three categories of crimes:

1. Crimes against Peace;
2. War Crimes;

The telephone conversation took place late in the evening on October 9.

Naturally, Donald Trump immediately wished Vladimir Putin a happy birthday, offering his best wishes for success and well-being. He also conveyed greetings from his wife, Melania.

Vladimir Putin thanked his American counterpart for his congratulations and kind words. He stressed that we value the attention that the US President and his team devote to dialogue with Russia, despite their busy agenda of domestic and Middle Eastern affairs.

One notable moment in the conversation [between the Presidents of Russia and the US], which I would like to highlight, was our President’s expression of gratitude to the US First Lady for her active humanitarian work, particularly her contribution to efforts to reunite children with their families separated during the Ukrainian conflict.

Regarding the concern expressed over the humanitarian situation in Alyoshki, Kherson Region, it was agreed that Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova would remain in regular contact with Melania Trump’s office.

🤝 The two Leaders discussed in detail preparations for major economic initiatives, including possible supplies of Russian petroleum products to the US and global markets. A special statement has already been issued on this matter.

Naturally, considerable attention was paid to prospects for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. <...>

It was stressed that Kiev’s attempts to halt the advance of Russian troops along the entire line of contact by striking deep inside our country have no prospect of success.

❗️ Our Armed Forces hold the initiative across the entire front and are steadily advancing. At the same time, Vladimir Putin made it clear that our position on the goals and objectives of the special military operation remains unchanged, as does our readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement aimed at achieving a lasting, sustainable peace.

It was particularly stressed that, while the Presidents’ previous conversation had addressed the possibility of resuming trilateral talks involving the US and Ukraine immediately after the State Duma elections, the situation has now changed.

In its attempts to disrupt our elections by launching an exceptionally large-scale drone attack on Moscow, other cities and polling stations, as well as specific individuals involved in organising the elections, on the main day of voting, the Kiev regime effectively prevented an immediate resumption of the negotiating process. As the President said, we will now consider when these talks can resume.

Donald Trump said he would instruct his team to convey the relevant messages to the Ukrainian delegation, which is currently in Miami for contacts with American representatives.

☝️ Vladimir Putin particularly stressed that the scope for diplomacy on Iran is far from exhausted. An agreement with Tehran is both possible and necessary.

The President mentioned that yesterday, in Turkmenistan, he had discussed the current situation in detail with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He noted that, despite the harsh public statements made from time to time, the Americans continue their indirect dialogue with the Iranians through Qatar. <...>

Notably, Donald Trump acknowledged this point, welcoming Moscow’s involvement in efforts to resolve the situation surrounding Iran. <...>

💬 Director of the Russian MFA Department for Multilateral Human Rights Cooperation Grigory Lukyantsev:

On October 7, the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council (#HRC) concluded in Geneva.

Over four and a half weeks, the Russian delegation, participating as an observer, actively promoted our approaches to the human rights agenda, advocated constructive dialogue and opposed the politicisation of the Council’s work.

A highlight was the Joint Statement initiated by Russia on behalf of 11 countries to mark this year’s 60th anniversary of the adoption of the International Covenants on Human Rights.

⚠️ The Session once again demonstrated the HRC’s continued degradation at the hands of a familiar group of Western countries and its transformation into an instrument for pressuring “unwelcome” states that dare to pursue independent domestic and foreign policies.

Russia’s firm footing and continued prominence on the international stage remain a source of frustration for certain “beacons of democracy”, which seek to harm our country by any means available.

At the 63rd Session, Western countries focused on pushing through an anti-Russian resolution extending the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Russia. The EU initiative was overtly anti-Russian and bore no relation to reality. 👉 As a result, a majority of HRC members – 26 countries – did not support it.

In their desire to punish Russia, our opponents did not hesitate to misuse the HRC’s agenda. Once again, the Council adopted a resolution on technical assistance to Georgia aimed at advancing territorial claims to Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Against this backdrop, the events organised by the Russian delegation during the Session met a clear need for reliable information about the situation in Russia and in the special military operation zone.

• Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for #KievRegimeCrimes drew considerable attention in Geneva with his statements at the Session. He also held a dedicated side event and a briefing for foreign and Russian media, presenting photographic and video evidence of Kiev’s violations of its obligations under international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

• Mikhail Melekh, Russian Foreign Minister's Special Representative for International Cooperation in Ensuring the Right to Freedom of Religion, drew the HRC’s attention to numerous violations of the rights of believers in Ukraine and presented a report on Kiev’s persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

• Georgy Muradov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea, in his address to the Session, spoke about manifestations of racism by the Kiev regime against the people of Crimea.

• A representative of Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova briefed the Council on Russophobia directed at independent national human rights institutions. The Commissioner’s Office was wrongfully stripped of its “A” accreditation status on political grounds, depriving it of the ability to participate independently in international human rights forums.

💬 Ukrainian militants deliberately struck ICRC trucks and a humanitarian aid warehouse in Donetsk.

On October 6, Ukrainian B-2 fixed-wing drones struck the warehouse premises twice, first at 3:00 a.m. and then at 5:45 a.m.

According to local DPR authorities, the attacks damaged three ICRC trucks bearing Red Cross emblems and destroyed construction materials stored both outside and inside the warehouse. (See photo)

☝️ The Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Russia and Belarus confirmed the strike on the organisation’s property in Donetsk.

The ICRC warehouse premises were marked with protective Red Cross emblems in full compliance with international humanitarian law. The Ukrainian side had also received the necessary notifications regarding the warehouse’s location and operations. The Kiev authorities must therefore have known that it stored food, medical supplies and construction materials used to assist Donbass residents in need. 👉 This, however, did not deter them from deliberately attacking the facility.

The attack is particularly cynical given that these construction materials are used to restore civilian facilities damaged by Ukrainian shelling.

This crime underscores Kiev’s disregard for international humanitarian law, which grants special protection to ICRC personnel and property.

❗️ These actions by Kiev’s militants and the Ukrainian authorities must receive an unequivocal response from states that support the ICRC’s work and respect international humanitarian law, which is binding on all countries.

💬 Over the past week, the number of attacks carried out by Ukrainian militants on civilian facilities remained extremely high. Monitoring services recorded up to 1,200 strikes daily.

The highest numbers of civilian casualties were recorded in the Belgorod, Bryansk, Zaporozhye, Kursk and Kherson regions, as well as the DPR and LPR.

Ukrainian punitive forces used drones to attack freight and passenger vehicles, residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, public utilities and social facilities. The enemy continued to strike kindergartens and schools, industrial buildings, agricultural enterprises, highways and shops, as well as school buses and regular bus services.

Disregarding the principles and violating the norms of international humanitarian law, Ukrainian militants carried out a series of deliberate attacks on medical personnel and facilities. In the LPR, an ambulance was attacked on a road near Zorinsk, leaving its driver with a shrapnel wound. In Kakhovka, Kherson Region, a Ukrainian drone struck an intensive care ambulance as its crew rushed to an emergency call.

On September 28 – October 4, attacks by Ukrainian neo-Nazis resulted in 235 civilian casualties: 206 people were injured, including 19 minors, and 29 were killed, including two children.

Over the past seven days, Ukrainian militants fired approximately 8,386 munitions at civilian facilities on Russian territory.

🇷🇺 5 октября в зале приема посетителей консульского отдела Посольства России в Австралии открылась фотовыставка «Крымское золото: «цивилизованная» Европа грабит российские сокровища».
 
Она подготовлена Российским военно-историческим обществом и посвящена уникальным крымским артефактам, обнаруженным в ходе археологических экспедиций. Коллекция включает оружие и доспехи, украшения, ритуальные предметы и орудия быта различных культур. Ее основу составляют драгоценные украшения III - II вв. до н. э., найденные в Усть-Альминском городище в Бахчисарайском районе Крыма.
 
🏛️ Долгие годы эти экспонаты входили в собрания четырех музеев полуострова – Керченского и Бахчисарайского историко-культурных заповедников, Национального заповедника «Херсонес Таврический» и Центрального музея Тавриды.
 
В 2013 г. крымские музеи заключили договоры с Боннским университетом и голландским музеем Алларда Пирсона, входящим в структуру Амстердамского университета, на проведение выставки «Крым: золото и тайны Черного моря». В музее Нидерландов было выставлено более 580 артефактов (порядка 2 тыс. различных предметов).
 
❗️После воссоединения Крыма с Россией голландская сторона вопреки контрактным обязательствам отказалась вернуть коллекцию музеям-владельцам. В 2023 г. Верховный суд Нидерландов постановил передать ее Украине.
 
Сегодня эти экспонаты незаконно удерживаются киевским режимом и его европейскими покровителями.
 
11 марта 2026 г. Следственным комитетом Российской Федерации возбуждено уголовное дело о хищении и невозвращении культурных ценностей в отношении должностных лиц органов власти Королевства Нидерландов, Украины и археологического музея Алларда Пирсона Амстердамского университета.

🚀 On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union opened humanity’s path to the stars!

#OTD, the Space Age officially began: the world’s first artificial satellite – Sputnik 1 – entered Earth’s orbit.

At 10:28 pm Moscow time, an R-7 launch vehicle, developed under the leadership of the outstanding Soviet rocket engineer Sergey Korolev, lifted off from the Tyuratam launch site (later named Baikonur). Just over five minutes later, the satellite separated from the rocket and transmitted its world-famous signals: “Beep! Beep!”

📰 On October 5, 1957, Soviet newspaper Pravda reported:

On October 4, 1957, the USSR successfully launched the first satellite.

The satellite is currently following an elliptical orbit around Earth, and its flight can be observed in the light of the rising and setting Sun using the simplest optical instruments.

Updates on the movement of the first artificial satellite, launched in the USSR on October 4, will be broadcast regularly by radio stations.

🛰 An aluminium sphere 58 centimetres (~23 inches) in diameter, weighing 83.6 kilograms (~184 pounds), with four antennas and two radio transmitters – this was humanity’s first envoy in orbit. Behind its simple exterior lay the immense efforts of Soviet scientists, engineers and workers.

Sputnik completed an orbit around Earth roughly every 96 minutes, and radio enthusiasts worldwide picked up its famous signals.

Its radio transmitters operated for about three weeks, while the satellite itself remained in orbit for 92 days. During that time, it completed 1,440 orbits around Earth, travelling some 60 million kilometres (~ 37.3 million miles). Its flight ended on January 4, 1958, when it entered the dense layers of the atmosphere and burned up.

The historic launch validated the calculations and technical solutions needed to reach space. Observations of the satellite gave scientists new data on the density of the upper atmosphere and the propagation of radio waves through the ionosphere.

🌐 Sputnik 1 was a triumph of Soviet science and engineering – an achievement for all humanity. It proved that the path beyond Earth was open – paving the way for Yuri Gagarin’s flight, the exploration of the Moon and other planets, and the construction of orbital stations.

For 6️⃣9️⃣ years, satellites have served humanity. Today, they are essential to everyday life: they provide communications and television broadcasting, help us navigate, forecast the weather and monitor climate change.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement reiterating warnings to foreign nationals and diplomatic personnel against remaining in Kiev or near military facilities in Ukraine (October 3 , 2026)

The Russian Foreign Ministry reiterates that, in response to terrorist attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Russia’s civilian population and infrastructure, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to carry out systematic and sustained strikes against military targets in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities.

The Russian side has previously called on foreign nationals and diplomatic personnel located in Kiev to leave the city and refrain from travelling to Ukraine. Russian authorities have also urged Ukrainian residents to stay away from military and administrative facilities.

These warnings were conveyed in the statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry on May 25, 2026, as well as through diplomatic notes addressed to foreign partners. They were also reiterated by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin during a briefing for members of the diplomatic corps on May 27, 2026.

The authorities of a number of countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, European Union member states, Norway, and Switzerland, have repeatedly advised their citizens against travelling to Ukraine, most recently in August of this year.

We note with concern that not everyone has taken these warnings into account and that some individuals are knowingly placing themselves in mortal danger. A number of foreign embassies continue to operate in Kiev, and foreign officials continue to visit Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will continue to carry out large-scale retaliatory strikes.

❗️ The Russian Foreign Ministry once again urges foreign nationals, including personnel of diplomatic missions, to refrain from remaining in or travelling to Ukraine.

Responsibility for any possible adverse consequences lies entirely with those who choose to disregard this warning.
