💬 We are closely monitoring the growing tensions on the Iranian-Pakistani border areas with great concern. We urge both parties to exercise ultimate restraint and resolve the situation through political and diplomatic means. Once again, we emphasise the importance of conducting any counter-terrorist operations outside of sovereign territory only after reaching an agreement and coordinating with the authorities of the states involved.
It is discouraging that these events are occurring between friendly states, members of the SCO, with whom we are developing partnership relations. The further escalation will only benefit those who are not interested in peace, stability and security in the region.

💬 <...> Today, more countries from the Global South and East, including those that attended the Copenhagen-format meetings, are openly saying that discussing any possible contours of an eventual settlement of the Ukraine crisis does not make any sense without Russia.
There is a growing understanding that the ultimatums set forth in the Zelensky Formula cannot bring about a comprehensive, just and lasting peace. This framework is based on delusional demands, such as withdrawing Russian troops to the 1991 borders, holding Russia accountable and making it pay reparations. At the same time, the Kiev regime does not hide the fact that it demands the withdrawal of troops in order to launch a genocide against Russians who support reunification with Russia. Supporting these demands means endorsing ethnic cleansing, which is a crime.
All Copenhagen-format meetings, including the one in Davos and any future gatherings, are ineffective and undermine the prospects for achieving a settlement of the Ukraine crisis. The organisers have been trying to draft The Principles for Peace in Ukraine but they are inherently unviable since they are based on the Zelensky Formula, absurd and unacceptable as it is. Moreover, Zelensky has enacted a legal ban that prevents him from engaging in peace talks with Russia.
☝️ It is only by returning to the roots of its statehood, including neutrality, non-bloc and non-nuclear status while fully respecting the rights and freedoms of people of all ethnic backgrounds living on its territory, that Ukraine would be able to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace settlement.
❗️ Unfortunately, the Zelensky Formula and the agenda of the Copenhagen-format meetings fail to address these crucial matters.

💬 Another act of historical vandalism is taking place in Dresden while German farmers are holding protests to show that they are sick and tired of the economic policy of Olaf Scholz’s cabinet.
The public watched in shock as a power sander was used to erase the inscription on a monument to the victims of the February 1945 Anglo-American bombardment of Dresden. The inscription read:
This is a place of remembrance, memory and commemoration. Here lie the burned bodies of thousands of victims of the February 13-14, 1945, air raids, when the horror of the war that had spread from Germany throughout the world returned to our city.
This is what it looked like.
It would like to remind everyone that in February 1945 the Third Reich was in the last days of its shameful history: the Red Army was liberating the country in the east, and the Allies, in the north-west. Moscow, London and Washington realised that the troops of the anti-Hitler coalition would be deployed in Germany for at least some time after its liberation. It was then that the Anglo-American allies decided to cause as much destruction as possible to the cities in the future Soviet occupation zone.
This is why they approved the absolutely disproportionate and intimidating bombing of Dresden’s residential districts, which bordered on a war crime.
Researchers believe that the Allies needed civilian deaths, including women and children, to send a message to Moscow and to show that the United States and Britain were powers that would stop at nothing to entrench their rule. Half a year later, the same logic was used to approve the devastation of Tokyo and later, with nuclear weapons, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
People in the German Democratic Republic commemorated the victims of the February 1945 bombing of Dresden. After the reunification of Germany, the subject became an irritant in relations between NATO countries. The death of tens of thousands of civilians was a powerful argument that even a battle against an absolute evil ― Nazism ― cannot justify the pointless murder of children for political purposes. And there were very many children among those who were killed in Dresden. The brilliant novel by Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five, or The Children's Crusade, is about the bombing of Dresden. Unlike Soviet commanders, who tried to save as many civilians as possible in the liberated German regions, the US and British air forces burned Dresden to the ground.
And now NATO has decided that the time has come to erase the memory of the victims of that crime. The most horrible thing is that it was Germans themselves who did it.
When the memorial still reminded them about the victims of the firebombing of Dresden, they brought flowers and the victims’ relatives and descendants cried at the monument.
But that’s not the worst of it. What’s completely monstrous is that the memory of German civilian deaths was erased while the German authorities nodded in approval at the glorification of Nazi criminals in Ukraine.
The local press has been left speechless by the Dresden City Council’s statement that “the renovation is going according to plan.”
Demand the immediate restoration of the historical inscription!

We are working together within a broader geography on security matters in the Asia-Pacific region, where we must uphold universal mechanisms rooted in ASEAN proposals and which have been effectively operating for many decades. However, attempts by the US and its allies to create closed, bloc-based formats and to expand NATO infrastructure to this region undermine these mechanisms and erode their effectiveness.
🇺🇳 We have been working closely and very successfully with Pyongyang within the UN and at other multilateral organisations. Russia has always supported the DPRK within the UN and appreciates the fact that you have treated Russia in the same manner, including on matters related to the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine.

It is made up of government agencies and private contracting companies, including the so-called 'Big Pharma' companies.
Through the U.S. executive branch, a legislative framework is being formed to fund military biological research directly from the federal budget. Under state guarantees, funds are attracted from non-governmental organisations controlled by the Democratic Party leadership, including the investment funds of the Clintons, Rockefellers, Soros, and Biden.
The main contractors of the American military department are Metabiota, Black & Veatch, and CH2M HILL, which are entrusted with the construction of biobased facilities, supplying equipment for the Pentagon's biolaboratories around the world. The work is being coordinated by the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).

Thus, the systemic expansion of biological-military activities poses a threat to the security of the Russian Federation and other States considered by the United States as strategic adversaries. The scale of U.S. dual-use research and the global biological risks it poses raise the question of an independent international investigation.

🇷🇺🇮🇳📞 Russia's President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
The discussion focused on current issues of developing Russian-Indian relations of specially privileged strategic partnership. Both sides expressed satisfaction with various successes in practical interaction in such areas as cooperation in trade and the economy, science and technology, energy, transport and logistics, as well as cooperation in Russia’s Far East.
Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi expressed interest in further stepping up mutually beneficial bilateral ties and wished each other every success at the upcoming elections – presidential election in Russia and the general election in India.
On January 1, the Russian Federation assumed chairmanship of #BRICS. In this context, both leaders emphasised their readiness to closely coordinate their approaches to the BRICS agenda.
According to Narendra Modi, India intends to help implement the goals and objectives of Russia’s chairmanship. The leaders also touched on several other international issues, including the situation around Ukraine.

👉The UK offerings will not change the overall balance of power and the catastrophic outcome of the conflict for Ukraine. But they will contribute to the prolongation and intensification of hostilities, and thus claim new victims.

❓ Question: Taiwan held elections today to choose the so-called president and MPs. What is the Russian Federation’s position on this matter?
💬 Maria Zakharova: Russia’s position on Taiwan is well-known and consistent, as set forth in Presidential Executive Order No 1072 of September 15, 1992, On the Relations between Russian and Taiwan.
This position is also set forth in the key documents governing Russia-China relations, primarily Article 5 of the Russian-Chinese Treaty on Neighbourly Relations, Friendship and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, dated July 16, 2001.
It reads: "The Russian side reaffirms that the principled stand on the Taiwan issue as expounded in the political documents signed and adopted by the heads of state of the two countries from 1992 to 2000 remain unchanged. The Russian side acknowledges that there is only one China, that the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. The Russian side opposes any form of Taiwan's independence."
By the beginning of the Special Military Operation of the Russian Federation, Johnson's premiership was already hanging by a thread.

The #UK government has followed in #Russia's footsteps and, after 20 years, finally listed Hizb ut-Tahrir as a terrorist entity.
In the past the #US and the #EU, of which the UK was then part, made critical statements about Russia's sustained efforts since 2003 to investigate and prosecute Hizb ut-Tahrir extremists.
We invite the UK to continue to draw on Russia's experience and ban other terrorist groups, including the Ukrainian "Pravy Sector" and the neo-Nazi "Azov" regiment.
✈️ On January 18, a special flight of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies delivered another shipment of humanitarian aid to Kabul, comprising 33 tonnes of food products.
This humanitarian action confirms that a special positive potential exists for interaction between the states, including via regional organisations that provide assistance to the friendly Afghan people who are suffering from the devastating earthquake in Herat province in October 2023.
🤝 Russia, for its part, will continue to provide free assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
🇷🇺🇰🇵 On January 14-18, Foreign Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Choe Son-hui was in Moscow on an official visit, during which she met with President Vladimir Putin.

❗️ Members of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation are outraged by the incendiary and cynical proposal of members of Plovdiv’s municipal council representing the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party to demolish the Alyosha monument to the Soviet liberator soldier by the end of 2024.

This latest thoughtless initiative by DSB representatives clearly demonstrates their disparaging attitude towards the history of their own country and can be viewed as a shameless attempt to insult the shared historical memory of our brotherly nations, as well as a psychotically desperate effort to denigrate the heroic feat of Soviet soldiers and the decisive contribution by the USSR and the Soviet people to the cause of fighting Nazism during World War II.
Should Plovdiv’s municipal council support this barbaric initiative, it will be an indelible stain on those behind it, as well as on the city’s legislative and executive bodies, demonstrating how badly the authorities in Plovdiv have lost the plot and become politically short-sighted.
People in Bulgaria know well that it was Alexei Skurlatov’s image which served as the model for the Alyosha monument. Skurlatov was a Red Army soldier from Altai and holder of two Red Star orders who contributed to restoring telephone communications between Sofia and Plovdiv. In August 1982, Plovdiv offered Alexei Skurlatov a welcoming ceremony with honours, celebrating him as a national hero and awarding him the title of the city’s honorary citizen.

We urge the international community to strongly condemn the attack on Yemen carried out by a group of countries without a UN mandate. We share the concerns expressed by our partners in the region, particularly Saudi Arabia, and call for increased international efforts to prevent further escalation of the situation.
We believe that this undertaking by the forces of the illegal "coalition" poses a direct threat to global peace and security. Based on this understanding, we have called for an immediate convening of the Security Council, where we will voice our principled assessment of these unlawful actions.

In reality, Washington, London, and Brussels have nurtured an aggressive nationalist and essentially neo-Nazi dictatorship in Ukraine whose sole objective, openly expressed, is to bring a "strategic defeat" to Russia. Western countries can no longer deny that Ukraine itself has been brought to ruin as a result of these policies. However, this has yet to be officially acknowledged.
Naturally, we cannot allow such a source of threat to the security of our country and our citizens to exist near our borders.

❓Question: On January 12, the world media reported the death of Gonzalo Angel Quintilio Lira López in a Ukrainian prison. He was an American journalist, film director and video blogger and had Chilean citizenship as well. What can you say about this tragedy?
💬 Maria Zakharova: First, I would like to draw your attention to this truly unprecedented situation. Gonzalo Lira was a national of both the US and Chile but these countries preferred to leave him without attention and support from the moment of his arrest by the Security Service of Ukraine.
They essentially consigned this “inconvenient” journalist to execution.

In the meantime, the reasons for the blatant disregard for the journalist by the US and Chilean authorities that refused to defend him and DID NOT EVEN NOTE his death in a Ukrainian prison are obvious to all those that followed without bias the fate of this courageous man.
In May 2023, it became known that the blogger was detained and accused under the article “Justification, defence as legal and/or denial of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and glorification of its participants.” After posting bail, he was put under house arrest.

He stayed there until his death after eight months of torture and lack of proper medical care. Obviously, the journalist’s refusal to follow the American mainstream and Washington’s line could not go unpunished. But in his case, the punishment was truly inhuman and literally murderous.
The tragedy of Gonzalo Lira, who dared have his own opinion, has yet again vividly revealed the face of the collective West.
We urge Gonzalo Lira’s colleagues to raise their voice in defence of the prisoners of the Kiev regime. This is necessary for those that are still alive and can still fight for the truth.

🇷🇺🇮🇷 On January 15, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
The Ministers discussed the progress in drafting a new treaty and a number of practical issues concerning bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in transport, logistics and other areas.
A special focus was given to the escalating tensions in the Middle East. The Foreign Ministers strongly condemned the large-scale attacks on Yemen carried out by a group of countries led by the US and Great Britain. They spoke in favour of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensuring unobstructed humanitarian access to the enclave to provide urgent assistance to the suffering civilian population.
🤝 The ministers also discussed efforts to further develop contacts and coordination between the two countries at all levels, emphasising the abiding mutual commitment to the fundamental principles of Russian-Iranian relations, including unconditional respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and other principles of the UN Charter, which will be reaffirmed in the major treaty being prepared for signing by the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Contrary to Grant Shapps’s Lancaster House claim, the #UK cost-of-living crisis predates the launch of the Special Military Operation in February 2022 and was "brought to you" by the ruling Tory government, of which he was and remains part.

🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC briefing with regard to strikes by US-led "international coalition" against the territory of Yemen (January 12, 2024)
💬 On January 11, the so-called "international coalition" led by the United States and Great Britain, which included Australia, Canada, Bahrain and the Netherlands, who calls itself the capital of world justice, launched massive strikes on the territory of Yemen.
This was not an attack against a group in this country, but against the people of Yemen as a whole. They hit the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, the cities of Sanaa, Saada, Zabid, Taiz and Damar. The US and satellites bombed airports and other infrastructure. Fires are burning in shell craters.
Unfortunately, what we are witnessing in Yemen looks painfully familiar. We have seen the exact same pattern of destruction in Gaza for the past three months. Now, long-suffering Yemen has once again become a hotbed of hostilities in the region.
Clearly, Washington is not going to stop there. The White House said it "reserves the right" to resume military action if there be more "threats". It does not take an expert to see that the United States will determine these "threats" and response measures at own discretion, without slightest regard for international law.
☝️ Massive strikes of the US and the UK against the territory of Yemen have nothing to do with the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. <...>
The US and its allies have a long record of gross violations and misinterpretations of international law. <...> Apparently, when it comes to Washington's hegemonic aspirations, neither international law nor the ICJ carry any weight for Americans and their allies. This is what the US-promoted "rules-based world order" is about. <...>
❗️ We call on the international community to resolutely condemn the attack on Yemen by a group of countries under the lead of the US and UK that was done without a UN mandate.

💬 Russia supported Algeria's initiative to convene today's urgent meeting of the Council on the situation in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with a focus on the threat of forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, in light of the illegality of such steps by West Jerusalem in the terms of international law.
And that is only part of the deadly "puzzle" that assembles into the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
As of now, more than 23,000 people have been killed in the enclave. That includes, by preliminary data, more than 7,500 children. Thousands of people are missing under the rubble of destroyed buildings. <...> Civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, has been destroyed almost completely. The total blockade of Gaza has led to acute shortages of water, fuel and medical supplies. <...> Since the beginning of the escalation, some 2 million people have already been displaced. ▪️Итоги агитационной поездки Р.Сунака к «другу Зеленскому» плачевны, прежде всего, для самой Украины. Лондон продолжает рассматривать эту страну как нацеленный против России геополитический инструмент.
▪️Подписанное в Киеве британо-украинское соглашение свидетельствует о том, что Незалежной не оставляют шансов выйти из конфликта переговорным путем.
▪️Военные поставки не изменят общего соотношения сил и катастрофического для Украины исхода конфликта, но будут способствовать затягиванию и ужесточению боевых действий, а значит приведут к новым жертвам.
👉Осознают ли британские налогоплательщики, что финансируемые ими подачки коррумпированному режиму Зеленского продолжают утекать в бездонную «черную дыру»?
❗Практика показывает, что геополитические экзерсисы на украинской ниве отнюдь не гарантируют спасения политической карьеры. Пример предшественников Р.Сунака это красноречиво подтверждает.
