*New POS Scamming Method*

Be careful, fraudsters have taken over POS business. There is a new POS machine. Scammers are using it to scam innocent people . it’s called wallet POS. It’s not from the bank; it is a cloned POS machine. It has a memory card in it that copies your details once u enter your pin. It will store all your information and you can’t trace the transaction because the POS machine, was not issued by any bank.

Don’t ever patronize road side POS vendors that do not have a stand or permanent shop where he or she stays. This is Christmas season and Yahoo guys have brought in these POS machines to dupe people of their hard earn money. Be careful and vigilant.

new HIGH TECH FRAUD
in town called the SIM
SWAP FRAUD, and
hundreds of persons
are already VICTIMS.

How does it work?

1 A new fraud called
SIM SWAP has started.
Your phone network will
momentarily go blind /
zero (No Signal / Zero
Bars) and after a while
a call will come through.

2 The Person on the end of the call will
tell you that he is calling
from (your cell phone
company) depending on
your network and that
there is a problem in
your mobile network.

3 He will instruct you to
Please press 1 on your
phone to get the
network back.

- Please at this stage
don't Press anything,
Just cut or END the call.
If you press 1, the
network will appear
suddenly and almost
immediately go blind
again (Zero Bars) and
by that action, your
phone is #HACKED.

Within a second they
will empty your bank
account and you won't
receive any alert.

What you will
experience.
It will appear as though
your line is without
Network, meanwhile
your SIM has been
SWAPPED.

How to recover your money after being scammed

Take a screenshot of the conversation you had with the online vendor on social media (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter).
Copy out the full name and account details of the vendor who scammed you.
If you made the transfer via your mobile app or SMS, go to your transaction history and copy out the “Transaction ID Number” of that transaction.
All banks have a team in charge of online fraud. Send an email to your bank’s E-fraud team as well as the online scammer’s bank, with proof of the transactions and forward a copy of the mail to CBN FRAUD DESK. This will help the bank to place the scammers account on hold.
With this, the scammer will not be able to carry out any transaction until they visit the bank.
If you don’t have their email address, you can walk into your bank or the scammer’s bank, and speak to the customer service in charge of fraud to file a complaint.
Your bank will direct you on the steps to recover your money.
Report to the police and also speak to a lawyer to file an expert court order. With a court order, the bank will release the information of your scammer to the police to help track them and recover your money.

While these steps will help you recover your money, it is also advisable to protect yourself from online scams on social media.
