RT @qcapital2020: Just got back from a weekly vacation in Mexico. About 70% were Americans , 20% Canadians and 10% other. In my tiny sample size of about 50-60 people I interacted with, many of them voted for #47, a few of them can’t stand #47 and nearly all of them can’t stand Trudeau (lol). Oddly, the vast majority had nothing but positive things to say about each other’s people. They despised the divisiveness and rhetoric. Met several people from red states that voted for #47 and still found the idea of annexing Canada absolutely retarded.
Honestly, was refreshing to hear people with common sense yet still a different viewpoints. As if that should be a big deal…but seems like it is these days. A nice reminder that Twitter/X is not always a clear representation of the world. I do believe Algo’s are definitely set up in a way to shift public discourse to divisiveness and polarization. Something to always be mindful of.
The only guy I actually talked about the economy/stock market was a extra wealthy oil guy from Texas (imagine like that rich oil guy in the Simpsons but with a sexier girlfriend) honestly looked like he didn’t have a worry in the world. He said he never really invested in technology and that all he knows is « wells ». Poor bastard if he only knew about Antonio’s coupons…Anyway, all this to say , there’s still descent people out there who may not share exactly your viewpoint on politics, religion, etc… yet you can still have a beer with them anyway.
I know Anthony Bourdain would be proud of me.

The gold rush:
US gold imports hit a record $30.4 billion in January, marking a second consecutive month of sharp increases, according to ZeroHedge.
This is DOUBLE the amount seen during the 2020 pandemic.
At the same time, the US trade deficit with Switzerland reached a record $22 billion.
This suggests the majority of imported gold is coming from Swiss vaults.
Physical gold buying is concerningly strong.

300+ bottles later, and it is still not enough.
