the rain is acidic (in a unique way) and eats away at your clothing and armor. also packages. if they are damaged, you get less experience for them.

you have to stack packages on your back. eventually you get vehicles but not right away. so while you are traversing the landscape you have to balance yourself and the packages so you don't topple over and break stuff.
