to take that to its logical conclusion: understanding the game and yourself is more important of a skill set than understanding your opponents until you're looking at like pro level tournament play and actually have to know what their habits are

eh, I'm of the belief that that's like 90% of the way to greatness but the other 10% comes from knowing what your enemies think you're gonna do and doing the thing that counters what the expected response to that would typically be (this is me talking as a halo player still tbh) but basically I find myself playing at my peak when I'm less worried about what MY team is doing and more worried about what I'M doing based on the situation the game puts me in (so like playing off info is super important but sometimes you have to provide that info for yourself by dying a time or two before you can action upon it)

I'm personally not a fan of the bullet rng and would rather the game have spray patterns instead which is one of the biggest things keeping me away from it, but that's because I grew up on halo where recoil management was the major skill

the biggest issue with games these days is they're not willing to take risks, they play things way too close to the chest like "we're call of duty for people who don't want to spend $60 on call of duty" and then it looks and plays like $5
