like it was groundbreaking.... back in the day when it opened up sandbox and third person action games to what they mostly resemble today, but outside of redefining that formula it largely hasn't done anything worthwhile since 4 (like if we're being real 5 was just more 4 which isn't a bad thing per se but I expect essentially the same out of 6)
