SD Guthrie’s Earnings Growth Outlook
SD Guthrie (SDG) is projected to grow by 46.9% in FY24, with a further increase of 8.9% in FY25. This growth is driven by a recovery in fresh fruit bunches (FFB) production, stable crude palm oil (CPO) prices, and supportive measures introduced in Budget 2025.
The recovery in FFB production and the steady CPO price, which has held at MYR4,000 per tonne throughout the year, are key contributors to this positive outlook. Additionally, SDG’s capacity expansion at its Indonesian refinery is expected to further support earnings growth.
SDG is also capitalizing on its extensive land bank by expanding into renewable energy projects. The company currently operates 16 biogas plants and leases land for solar farms with a combined capacity of 633 megawatts (MW), according to a local research house.
Investors optimistic about SDG’s growth trajectory may consider SDG-C22, which offers investors an effective gearing of 6.8x!

WiseTech Global's board to examine payments to CEO's former partner
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/business/wisetech-globals-board-examine-payments-ceos-former-partner-4691086
Nir Kaissar wrote a short investigative piece on the state of the wider us market but I tried to summarize it in this piece further.
This is my way of digesting things.
Sabanes Oxley act has made the cost of listing more expensive. To be listed the ongoing cost can be about $50 mil. To a small company that is a chunk of net income.
Regulations like this has made public listing an important thought. More so, they don't have to get funding from the public markets due to the private markets. The governance may also be lesser.
All this have resulted in less company being listed and a shrinking public markets.
The smaller companies nowadays are becoming lower and lower in quality.
If you are a believer in factor investing, you should know what this means. An index more dominant by lower profitable, lower quality business is going to perform worse.
Nir gives evidence of that.
Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Choosing the high quality and cheaper companies.
