Crude Palm Oil Prices Climb
According to a local research house, crude palm oil (CPO) production rose by 7.0% year-on-year (YoY) in 3Q24, accompanied by a 4.7% YoY increase in average CPO prices.
YTD, CPO price averaged at MYR4,003 per tonne with a sharp increase recorded in Oct’24. This trend supports a positive earnings outlook for major plantation companies such as SD Guthrie (SDG) formerly known as Sime Darby Plantation and IOI Corporation (IOICORP).
The rise in CPO prices is primarily driven by geopolitical factors and robust export growth. Palm oil exports surged 18.8% during the first 10 days of October, as reported on TheEdge.
Investors optimistic about rising CPO prices may consider SDG-C22 and IOICORP-C61, which offers investors an effective gearing of 9.4x and 10.6x respectively!
