I really am glad that some of the stalwarts of the Singapore investment writing space like STE is still putting up reflective pieces of work. It kind of encourages younger investors like us to constantly revisit what we learn in the past and challenge if they remain true.
Through these revisits, we may become clearer or realize that we might need to find out better.
STE shares his thoughts about how we should understand risks and volatility, and I was moved enough to share my own reflective thoughts about it.

MR DIY Establishes Itself in Indonesia
While chain stores in Indonesia typically concentrate on major cities where demand is strongest, MR DIY (MRDIY) is taking a different approach by opening outlets outside of urban centres and expanding to smaller cities across the nation since penetrating Indonesia in 2017.
Since then, MRDIY has opened an average of 100 stores a year in Indonesia, even maintaining this pace during the pandemic in 2020. Today, MRDIY operates 907 stores across the country and is planning to open 15-20 more this year as reported on TheStar.
Notably, MRDIY has become a pioneer in several small cities, often being the first national retailer to establish a presence.
Investors bullish on MRDIY’s growth strategy and is looking for leveraged exposure may consider MRDIY-C30, which provides investors an effective gearing of 6.1x. This means, for every 1% move in MRDIY shares, MRDIY-C30 will move accordingly by 6.1%!
