I've restarted it this morning after a FS full, now it's alerting about 5 nodes; they have been down for 4-5 min , not 5h 😐

with the new version of panic I get a validator down for 4h while it was not. how to ping it like with the old polkadot api (curl .../ping?host , or something of the sort)?

Yeah it’s recommended that when you create a node you use the naming convention my_node (IP) etcetc. But yeah, a feature to consider down the line.
