Harry Winks is “Leicester’s fulcrum in midfield”
Listening to TalkSport and hearing them discuss how Leicester look “a bit lost” without “fulcrum” Harry Winks, who is on a one match ban for yellow card accumulation. One pundit mentioned that the fans “won’t want to be without him for long”. So happy Winksy is doing well in the Championship and has found somewhere that can make the most of him. Also nice that the Madders-Winks exchange has turned out so well for everyone involved.

Messi's kind of gotten aggressive in his later years, hasn't he?
I mean bro is manhandling opponents and calling them "bobo" and stuff 😂. Like as a Barca fan who's watched him my whole life, I'm not going to say he was timid his whole career, but this dude is a whole new person from the guy who lost the WC in '14.
What happened?

Why was long ball relevant for so long if its so inneffective today?
Im confused, how did it take so long for long ball to become so irrelevant? When I watch games from 2003 every team just lobs the ball up over and over.

Do fans mind that all European top leagues have very little parity?
Bayern winning 10. The premier league having a “big six” and only 2 different teams qualifying for UCL in years (Leicester and Newcastle). La Liga being a 2 horse race with occasional atletico. Even serie A has 5-6 good teams and every one doesn’t compete. Ligue 1 is only PSG. How do fans just accept that domestic leagues have no parity? There is no feasible way anyone can ever expect Brighton to win the PL when if they have one good year, their best players are bought. Big clubs are insanely well established and small teams can’t complete without getting bought out. It seems so unfair to me. Like, I feel like if the European scene was more fair with better parity, Dortmund should’ve been able to keep Haaland and Bellingham as their 2 starlets. The best example of this is Lewandowksi at Dortmund. He wins the league with Dortmund twice, loses to Bayern in the UCL final, and then just joins the best team. That was the best move for his career. It feels like the scene is just set so a team like Dortmund can never compete with Bayern. Or how after Real beat Atletico in 2014, Atletico’s keeper joined Real 4 years later, and now Real remains the super team with Atletico just trying to qualify for UCL knockouts.
On another note, this is why I don’t think City deserve the hate they are getting, neither do Chelsea or PSG. They are becoming big clubs the only way possible. Atletico and Dortmund failed doing it the “organic way”. Their best players left for the big teams who beat them in UCL finals. City and Chelsea keep their best players (Haaland, Reece James, etc)

Match Fact
Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone will be hoping his players are refreshed and ready to continue their quest for another La Liga (LL) crown after the international break. A 3-1 victory over Villarreal before club football’s hiatus left the 11-time Spanish champions just six points off the summit, but with a game in hand on all of the sides above them, they know that gap can be closed quickly.
Recent form suggests that the Mattress Makers should be confident of climbing the table too, given they are on a run of nine victories in their last 11 outings (D1, L1), the one blip being a shock defeat to Las Palmas. As if that form’s not spectacular enough, recent achievements at the Estadio Metropolitano have been simply staggering, as Atléti have secured 17 successive wins across all competitions on home soil, a streak that dates back to early February!
They are therefore a pretty formidable opponent for Mallorca, although the visitors have surprisingly won three of the last four H2Hs (L1). That historical omen is about the only source of inspiration they have left to cling to, because a period of seven league fixtures without a victory (D4, L3) has left them dangling precariously above the LL relegation zone.
The most recent of those games was a 2-0 reversal at Real Betis, when Javier Aguirre’s side failed to score for the third top-flight match in a row. That has left some fans demanding a change in the dugout, but Mallorca’s director of football Pablo Ortells insists the former Atlético Madrid boss is going nowhere, stating “the main thing is to keep calm and convey confidence to people.”
Players to watch: Atlético Madrid striker Álvaro Morata, who Simeone claimed is “on par” with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, has already netted 12 goals in just 15 appearances this season, only three shy of the total he accumulated in the entirety of 2022/23. Attempting to out-gun him may be Abdón Prats, who could deputise for the potentially absent Vedat Muriqi and has bagged nine of his last 11 goals away from home.
Hot stat: Atlético Madrid have netted at least one first-half goal in 11 of their last 12 matches.
AUPA ATLETI !!!
