We discussed Fachtna and Ness' parentage of Conchobar in our stream on Sunday

Conchobar is Prajapati, the embryo of the cosmic egg. Ness is Vak-Devi, who is the creatrix alongside the Purusha who forms the cosmic egg in SB 6.1.1:
"[Purusha] created the waters out of Vâk...He
entered the waters with that triple science [vidya]. Thence an egg arose."

Thus Ness giving birth into then pulling baby Conchobar out of a river makes sense here

But Lugaid Mac Con is clearly the Irish Purusha as a whole: he's been born from the 7 Lugaids, as Purusha is formed from 7 Purushas, and the 7 Lugaids are sons of Daire (aka Dagda, god of Wind), as the 7 Purushas arise from the Vital Air

Lugaid is in a PARALLEL lineage to Fachtna, and Fachtna (the Hostile Wise) ultimately kills Dui, who is of the clan of Daire and Lugaid

So my belief is that Fachtna and his sometimes brother Cathbad are the divine personas or active divine Intellects WITHIN the Purusha/Lugaid (also Fachtna or his grandfather Rudraige may = Indui here)

Their capturing of and consorting with Ness to father Conchobar is the creative and priestly activity of the Purusha as such which brings about the egg/Prajapati

And as Purusha is Agni (Fire) and Rudra is really the luminosity of Agni, so Fachtna, The Hostile Wise, is a blatant Rudra, who finally performs the act of "intellectual creation" by impregnating Ness as the serpent, this being the creative action of the Purusha when he touches the water with the Triple Science/Vidya

This serpent form equated with Fachtna then reminds of Chronos [Time] somewhat, who causes the cosmic egg to arise with Ananke and then causes it to open. Rudra of course is Kala, Time, in some references, so this is possible
I also don't see a problem with equating him with Ophion

If Fachtna and Cathbad are personas within or astride the Purusha, then it's interesting that Fachtna's father is Ross, "Knowledge". The Purusha has to make Trayi-Vidya manifest in order to create the Egg, Vidya meaning literally "Knowledge". So, I have to wonder if Ross or his son who embodies Wisdom and is his continuer, and who enters the picture in order to finally impregnate Ness after Cathbad has "tamed" her in some sense, is in the same position as the Trayi-Vidya of the Purusha creation.

The Trayi-Vidya is also called the Brahman and is the 3 Vedas, thus if this was true we would have an Irish instance of a Rudra "type" (Fachtna) in an equivalent position to the Veda-Brahman of the Vedic tradition, the wise one who embodies the system of divine knowledge, which is more or less the transcendent divine Logos in Greek terms, in its primordial role in creation

This whole thing gives a much better picture of who is really performing the "demiurgic" work in the creation of the cosmos: While the Purusha is = to Zeus, the Intellect within his aetheric fire is Rudraic, ie it is Cronus/Chronos-Apollo
