☀️ Betelgeuse is a bright and one of the closest giant stars in the left shoulder of the constellation Orion.

Some interesting facts about the star:

- Betelgeuse is 1000 times (!) larger in diameter than our Sun!

- If it were located in place of our Sun, - Earth, Mars and Jupiter would have long been gone - the star would have completely swallowed them up.

- Scientists make predictions about the death of the star in the next 2-3 thousand years - at the peak of its explosion, which will last +- two months, the luminosity of Betelgeuse will exceed solar in (!) 1050 and more times - the death can be observed from Earth with the naked eye.

The rotation rates of the planets around their axis relative to the stars (sidereal days) 🌍

Planets rotate because they were formed from moving material. Momentum must be conserved, so the planets acquired their own rotation.

The bigger the planet, the more material it took to create it. And the more material, the greater the rate of rotation. (Note the rotation rate of Jupiter, Saturn).
