It was possible to capture streams beating from the supermassive black hole in the centre of the galaxy Messier 87 (M87), located at a distance of about 16.4 million parsecs from the Earth (the first picture, the rest - fantasies of artists on the theme). Jets of plasma - so-called jets, or relativistic jets - occasionally burst out of the centres of active galaxies, quasars and radio galaxies. Presumably, the emissions are caused by the interaction of magnetic fields with the accretion disc around a neutron star or black hole.
The image also clearly shows accretion - the process by which the base of such a jet of plasma travelling at almost light speed - combines with matter swirling around a supermassive black hole before hitting its surface for the first time.

Its mass of about 10 million solar masses was unexpectedly large for such an early period.
This black hole, found in the UHZ1 galaxy, is surprising because its mass is comparable to the mass of all other matter in the galaxy.
