Diminutivos- Diminutives
In Spanish, suffixes called diminutives can be added to nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and names to indicate smallness, as well as other ideas such as affection, humor, pity, irony, or ridicule. In this way, you can say that something is little without adding an adjective like pequeño to indicate smallness or querido to indicate affection.
examples:
1. Tengo un osito de peluche hermoso que me regaló mi primo en Navidad.
2. Los pajaritos salieron a comer después de la tormenta.
3. Si quieres pasaré por tu casa a la tardecita.
Venezuela postula la musica del joropo como patrimonio de la humanidad:
Joropo is considered the national song and dance of Venezuela. Joropo is rooted in the Spanish music of the 17th and 18th centuries, such as various types of fandangos, folías, peteneras, jotas and malagueñas. Spanish sailors, settlers and minstrels arrived to current day Venezuela and their folk music incorporated indigenous and African elements. The word joropo was coined first in Venezuela, and the first joropo performers appeared in coastal Venezuela. Eventually, joropo extended throughout all of Venezuela and became a symbol of Venezuelan national identity. Joropo also expanded into a quarter of Colombia’s territory.

LET'S continue with CUBA!
La Chambelona es una conga cubana que causó furor a inicios del siglo XX, cuando se originó una guerra entre conservadores y liberales, conocida como La Guerra de la Chambelona. El tema se cantó en el poblado de Camajuaní por primera vez y luego se popularizó en el terreno de la política, entre los liberales villareños. Con el paso de los años perdió todo vestigio político y hoy es conocida por cualquier cubano, independientemente de su edad.
Y tu has escuchado alguna cancion cubana?
LET'S CONTINUE WITH: Argentina
For those who love tango, here you have!
Esto gracias a la letra compuesta en 1924 por el argentino Pascual Contursi, una composición que le cambió la cara al tango de ese momento.
“Ahí es de donde viene el ‘conflicto’ entre Argentina y Uruguay: porque la letra es de un argentino y la música es de un Uruguayo”, añade Kaphammel.
“Si supieras,
Que aún dentro de mi alma,
Conservo aquel cariño
Que tuve para ti
Quién sabe si supieras
Que nunca te he olvidado,
Volviendo a tu pasado
Te acordarás de mí”.

DIPHTHONG: "UI"
Diphthongs occur when an unstressed “i”, “u”, or “y-ending” appears next to another vowel in the same syllable. Their vowel sounds do not change, but they blend together to form a single syllable.
One such vowel combination, “ui” (or “uy” word ending), is pronounced like the English word “we,” except that it is a somewhat shorter sound.
LET'S continue with SPAIN!
Spanish music is often associated with traditional styles such as flamenco and classical guitar. While these forms of music are common, there are many different traditional musical and dance styles across the regions. For example, music from the north-west regions is heavily reliant on bagpipes, the jota is widespread in the centre and north of the country, and flamenco originated in the south.

DIPHTHONG: "EI"
Diphthongs occur when an unstressed “i”, “u”, or “y-ending” appears next to another vowel in the same syllable. Their vowel sounds do not change, but they blend together to form a single syllable.
One such vowel combination, “ei” (or “ey” word ending), is pronounced like the “ay” in the English word “say,” except that it is a somewhat shorter sound. Note that when there is a written accent over the letter “i”, the diphthong is “broken” and the two vowels are pronounced separately.
CONSONANT: "Y"
The Spanish “y” acts as both a consonant and as a vowel. Earlier lessons on diphthongs discuss how the “y” sounds as a vowel. This lesson will focus on “y” as a consonant. As a consonant, the Spanish “y” has two common sounds. Depending upon the region, the “y” might sound like the English “y” in the word “yes” or the “j” in the English word “joy.”
