==I want to address the rising issues of Nepal’s public finance.
When I looked into Nepal’s fiscal policy of 2080–81 with the help of teachers, there we noticed serious problems such as overly revenue expectations which lead to high unexpected debts, and also It will hamper the future flexibility of budgets.(Here he is continuously looking at my eyes) (I fumbled) Only 65% of capital budgets are used in a whole year which ensures there is the lack of financial planning.

🗣️What changes?
Firstly, I have taken the SAT and scored 1400 (highest marks in Math (770)), which helps me to develop a strong academic profile and decrease my COA to 13k.
I have also been accepted into honors programs, which help me to learn from expert professors and methodology.

My Honest Suggestion (Especially for Master's Applicants)

After my second F-1 visa rejection, and after meeting a brother with a PhD scholarship who got rejected, and seeing a girl with three yellow slips stacked visibly in her clear file, I’ve come to realize a few important things I want to share.

I’m not trying to spread negativity or frustration I’m still hopeful but it’s important to be realistic and strategic.

1. Don’t Limit Yourself with Just Duolingo

If you're planning seriously for study abroad, especially in competitive countries like the U.S., take IELTS or PTE instead of just Duolingo.
It opens doors to more countries and universities, especially those not accepting Duolingo.

2. Keep a Backup Country Plan (Smart Strategy)

Depending on your long-term goals, especially if PR (permanent residency) is in your mind, choose a second or third option strategically:

Australia / Canada – Ideal for those aiming for PR, but competitive. Requires IELTS or PTE.

UK / Germany – Current visa success rate is relatively good. Germany is great for low tuition; UK is fast and structured.

Other European Countries – Many offer English-taught programs and better visa chances right now.

3. Understand the U.S. Visa Reality

F-1 visa interviews are unpredictable, especially post-2023.

Even strong profiles (scholarships, research, work experience) face rejections.

No part-time jobs off-campus, and CS students face uncertainty due to oversaturation.

Visa officers may reject even if they understand and smile intention matters more than explanation.

4. Still, Don’t Give Up .Just Be Clear and Skilled

Yes, it’s tough. But don’t give up completely. Instead:

Work on your skills (coding, design, research, communication).

Make your vision and career goal very clear.

Choose your university based on long-term fit.

5. Set a Limit, Respect Your Peace

Hope is good but don’t lose your peace of mind.

Set a personal limit on how many times you’ll apply or wait.

A “no” doesn’t define your potential it just redirects your path.

I hope this helps someone out there feel less alone and more prepared. If you’re going through this too, feel free to connect. Let’s lift each other up.

SPRING / FALL VISA EXPERIENCES ( NO DISCUSSION )

Interview experience

July 15
Young American vo
University of Cincinnati
Coa : 32k after scholarship
Biochem

Visa rate was veryyy low

Me : Namaste. How are you ?
Him: I am good. How about you?
Me : I am fine too
Him: What’s your name girl?
Me: told my name
Him: nice to meet you
Me : same here

Him: so your major is biochemistry. Why are u going for it?
Me : I have studied chemistry and subjects flustering around it and I love organic chemistry. I chose biochemistry specifically because I want to learn how disease mechanisms are at molecular level and how drugs can be formulated and delievered against the disease. I am specializing in nano particle based drug Delievery system. (Said it veryyy confidently , vo was too impressed )

Him: oh what’s nanoparticles based drugs ?
Me : it is a system in which extremely small partcles like microorganisms are used to transport the drugs to the diseased part of our body (I was about to continue but he nodded and his body language was like ok that enough )

Him: so why are u going to UC?
Me : UC really stands out to me because it provides a very special course called Cryo-EM that most of the university have only provided in their post doctoral degree . This course will give me a close insight on how molecular structure of bio molecules are.

Him: so who is going to fund you? (Looked straight into my eyes )
Me : My parents are going to fund me. My father is a business man and the secretary of Nepal gold organization.

Him : Oh, what business ?
Me : He has a business of gold and diamonds he runs two jewellery shops inside Kathmandu valley that’s in * and in **. my mom is a government officer.
May I elaborate their income in numbers ?

Him: Yes
Me: I individually said my fathers and mothers income. (Their combined was 40k usd) and told rental income was 8k and also savings. ( He was giving Ohh mouth expression)

Him: typed typed typed
Leaned in and asked me with eyes wide one
Are they going to spend almost all their income on your education ?
Me : No we have rentals and as well as savings.

(Then he thought for some seconds again asked me my mothers income and typed typed typed and said sorry )

(I know I messed up at the income part. I didn’t wanted to exaggerate because it would sound absurd compared to average Nepali household income )

My suggestion to anyone going for UC or university with high coa :
Please showcase your parents income solely as 1.5 times minimum your coa.
They DONT consider rental income
And savings.

Better to not choose university with high COA especially in this situation lol.

I hope this will help and wish you all good luck!!

SPRING / FALL VISA EXPERIENCES ( NO DISCUSSION )

This guy asked for my feedback so here it is

You explained your reason for choosing the major really well. You clearly connected the issues in Nepal’s public finance system with how this major could help you address them. Mentioning specific problems like unrealistic revenue expectations and the low utilization of capital budgets made your answer feel thoughtful and informed. That was definitely a strong part of your interview.

Now about the changes you mentioned. I don’t know the exact gap between your first and second attempt, but from this experience, it looks like you used that time productively. Preparing for the SAT and scoring 1400, especially with a 770 in Math, is a great achievement. That helps show academic progress. You also mentioned being accepted into an honors program. While that’s a nice addition, it usually doesn’t make a big difference unless you connect it to something like research or mentorship. But doing research on Nepal’s fiscal policy with your teacher is a good touch. It shows initiative and depth in your area of interest.

Where things could have gone better is in your plan after graduation. The fact that the officer asked about it shows that he was engaged with your answers and still considering your case seriously. But the plan you mentioned might have raised a red flag. You said you want to become a chartered financial analyst and work at NRB or the National Planning Commission. These are government organizations, and getting into them isn’t easy or guaranteed. There are competitive exams and long selection processes involved. From the officer’s perspective, your plan doesn’t clearly show a guaranteed or realistic return pathway, especially when your total cost of education is over fifty thousand dollars. If the job you’re aiming for isn’t certain, it could look like you’re more likely to stay in the US rather than come back to Nepal.

A stronger approach would be to say that after graduation, you plan to work in a private financial firm in Nepal where you can apply your skills and gain real-world experience. Then you can explain that your long-term goal is to compete for positions at NRB or in government planning, once you’ve built the necessary qualifications. This shows a clear plan with both short-term and long-term goals, and it supports the idea that you will return to Nepal.

Overall, your preparation seems strong and you came across as confident. Just be very careful with your post-graduation plan. That part carries a lot of weight, and it’s important that it feels realistic and rooted in your actual context. You’re very close, just a little more polishing and you’ll be ready.

Visa Officer : Hi
kuku : Hello Officer! Namaste and Good morning :)

Visa Officer : So, Biological Science?
kuku : Yes, Officer. I’m going to pursue my undergraduate degree in Biological Science.

Visa Officer : Why Biology?
kuku: I choose to major in biology because it provides the foundation I need to explore the brain's roles and behavior, especially in conditions like ASD and Alzheimer's disease. After seeing the challenges faced by children with autism, I became deeply curious about how the brain fluences behavior. With this degree, I aim to build the skill and knowledge to eventually pursue research in this area, improving the lives of people in my community who are affected by these.
(No comments on answer plsss, I’m not blaming the VO or myself, I said what I felt.)

VO: Oh, okay! What do you want to be in the future?
kuku: I want to become a biomedical researcher, Officer.

VO: Are you planning for Master’s or PhD later?
kuku: No Officer... (then I just want to have khai k k vaney)

VO: So you’ve graduated this time?
kuku: Yes. I explained my CEE, internship as lab assistant, travels, leg surgery, volunteer work at Butwal Autism Society, Research paper, Rotaract Club involvement, IELTS, and after rejection , a neuro clinic internship etc. (I think I over-explained here 🥹after rej vandiye mailey janni vayera)

F-1 Visa Experience – Second Attempt (2024 – Rejected Again)

Vo : young and short American vo
Program: MS in Computer Science – Wright State University
Interview Month: August 2024
Result: Rejected (Yellow slip given)

Me : Hello good morning officer
VO (American officer): Hello, how are you doing?
Me: I’m doing great, officer! This is my second attempt, and I’m feeling more confident this time.

VO: When were you rejected?
Me: In August 2024.

VO: Why Wright State University (WSU)?
Me: Officer, WSU’s Computer Science program is engineering-oriented, so I’ll be learning both hardware and software programming. WSU also assigns peer mentors who are also international students who help new students like me with initial challenges.
Also, I’m in contact with two professors, [Prof. 1] and [Prof. 2], and they are extending lab opportunities. That gives me a chance to participate in research and conferences.

VO: Why Computer Science? And why didn’t you take such courses in Nepal?
Me: Officer, I’ve done prior research in this field. I’m developing a device [briefly describe the idea], and for that I need skills in Human-Computer Interaction and Machine Vision. Unfortunately, such subjects are not deeply covered in CS programs in Nepal.
(I asked if he had used the device; he said no by shaking head.)

VO: Do you have anyone in the U.S.?
Me: I don’t have any close relatives, but my mother’s sister (my aunt) lives in New York.

VO: Sorry. (Passed yellow slip)

In summary
Before my interview, the officer seemed a bit frustrated (possibly due to dealing with a B2 case before me).

However, during my interview, he was smiling and appeared to understand everything I explained.

Despite that, I received a yellow slip, and the visa was refused again.

I don’t know the exact reason for rejection, but I genuinely feel I gave my best and made improvements from my first attempt.

SPRING / FALL VISA EXPERIENCES ( NO DISCUSSION )

My point :

When you were already accused of the fraud document,
You should have said the officer didn't believed on my documents because you knew what's the case before. Instead of saying 214b and whatever you said, could have just mentioned the misunderstanding and try to solve it.

I don't know what would have happened but maybe you could have got chance, getting another pink slip for administrative processing.

If you parents income or business were genuine, the income somehow goes constant.

You should have carried the new tax clearance and income statement from the time of rejection to till date to prove your income is real and the PAN details of your business to show the truth right at the interview.

Time and words you speak are everything when you enter the embassy.

You got chances but I don't know why you didn't try that thing.

Anyway, best of luck for your future and new journey ahead, mate !
