Me: why not officer , so let me explain inflation in simple way that you understand , Imagine you go to the market to buy tomatoes. During deflation, prices are low, so you can get 8 tomatoes for ₹10. During inflation, prices rise, so with the same ₹10 you can buy only 3–4 tomatoes. That’s how inflation and deflation affect purchasing power..

Course. Saying i love studying chemicals and spending time shows affection which can be changed anytime. (No ambition connected with program)
University: They seek answer of how We get benefited from the university from program and through several university means.
Mentioning just scholarships and financial part shows desperation of immigration intent and lack of personal touch. Anything that signs (stating facts) thats the biggest red flag. 🚩

There were only 2 VO that day( another young handsome American VO)
There were many people for their tourist visas that day. At first, almost everyone was getting rejected(I was a little angry because they were not giving visas to anybody). But after some time, 3-4 people were getting tourist visas. My friend was the first to give an F1 visa interview, and I was second ( He also got a pink slip). My interview went like this.
VO: Pass me your documents( When I didn't even reach the window)
Me: Namaste, officer, how are you? (passed my documents)
VO: I am fine. How are you?
Me: I am also fine. (I was going to say thank you for asking, but he immediately asked another question)
VO: Is this your first attempt?
Me: Yes, officer, this is my first attempt.
VO: What is your EPT?
Me: I have done IELTS and scored an overall band 7 with the highest being 7.5 in English. Oh, sorry in reading and listening. (I don't know why I said English😂)
VO: Which book did you study in English in your high school? (He was looking at my transcript carefully)
Me: Officer, it was a compulsory English book provided by our school.
paused 3 seconds( Vo seems confused)
Vo: No, no, which book?
Me: Compulsory English
Vo: No, like which story?
Me: Oh. I read Steve Jobs's speech( I thought for 3-4 sec and randomly said Steve Jobs's speech. I was nervous that I was not able to tell even one story from the English book😂).
VO: What did he say? ( I didn't prepare for this question)
Me : (I didn't remember what he said, and I thought for 5 sec.) He gave this speech at a university. He said about life. .... (paused)... . Sorry, officer, I don't remember.( At this point, I thought mero visa gayo vanerw😭)
VO: What did you study in biology then?
Me: I studied the digestive system. I studied how food passes through the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, intestine and how different juices like saliva, pancreas help break it down. It was (interrupted)
VO: Why didn't you take computer science in high school?
Me: Officer, after 10, I was not sure which field suits me. So I took bio and math as my major to go to any field, either medical or IT. In Nepal, you can go to any field if you take math and bio in high school, like you can take management as well.
VO: What does your father do?
Me: My father is ... at .... He is also retired ..... from the Indian army. He earns(interrupted).
VO: What does your mother do?
Me: She runs ..... business at ..... named(interrupted).
VO: Do you have an elder sister or brother?
Me: Yes. I have an elder brother, and he is a lieutenant in the ..... army. He is also going to sponsor me.
VO: So you use YouTube? ( looking at the computer)
Me: Yes, officer, I use YouTube.
VO: Did your parents travel to any other country?
Me: Yes. India. My father was in the indian army.
VO: Any other countries?
Me: No, officer.
After this, He took a pink slip.
VO: Today is 13 Nov. Write here 13 Nov and tick here(Showing me the pink slip)
Me: (I did what he said and showed my pink slip to the visa officer.) Is it okay, officer?
VO: Yes, give me your ds 160.
Me: (gave him my DS-160)
VO: You can leave now.
Me: (With a big smile) Thank you, officer. ( and I left )
I was amazed😂because he didn't even ask me why this uni? Why USA? or plans after graduation. I observed that if you have good grades in your transcript, VO will be impressed, and there is a high chance you will get the pink slip.
I was running😂 in the embassy to show my pink slip to my 2 friends, and the guard dai said Go slowly.
Tips:
Please don't memorise your answers word-for-word. Just remember the points to say. Practice those points in your own words 100 times before the interview. And say it naturally to the VO. In my experience, Visa officers were immediately rejecting students if they heard any scripted answers.

Iv was 2:30 pm but held around 4 pm as i went there on 1 pm. Dizziness was on peak 😖

Vo: is this your 1 st attempt?
Me: no officer it is my second attempt
Vo: what changes have you made this time?
Me: i have made several important changes on my profile. Firstly i have changed my uni from wilkes to txst and received full tuition scholarship which has reduced my ca from 30 k to 20 k. I have also strengthened my knowledge in biology and chemistry by taking online classes from Khan Academy for two months. I have also actively been participating in volunteering activities from Nepal Red Cross Society and also conducted various health awareness, (fumbled little)disaster preparedness and fund raising programs. This steps reflect my commitment to my academic growth and community service.(on full confident)
vo: Your presentation is great, Is it scripted..?
Me: No officer , i told based on my experience and research
Vo: Have you been to other countries?
Me: No officer i would be my first time.
Vo: Do you have sibilings?
Me: yes officer, i have an elder sister currently working as doctor in ….. hospital
(Passed me white slip with i cannot issue you visa)
Do you really think i should go for 3 rd attempt with better communication skills for spring 2026 in same university ?

(Mero ma Young Indian VO thyo. As per my observation, mostly old Indian VO or young Indian Vo le nai pink slip dirathen. However when I was there, only 3 ppl received pink out of 40-60 ppl(obv can’t count lol) and the remaining got white(214b rejection) slip. I was about to get the young American counter but fortunately euta b1/b2 or visit visa wala uncle mero paxadi huda ni thyakkai side ma ubbinu bhathyo so the line organizer sent him to the young American VO and I got the young Indian VO.)
VO: Pass me your docs.
Me: Good Morning officer! Sure!
VO: Good morning! So, what is your English proficiency score?
Me: Officer, I chose to give Ielts exam and scored overall 7 bands ( I fumbled a bit as this qn wasn’t expected in the beginning lol)
VO: (looking at my docs) okay, where do your parents live in Nepal?
Me: My parents live in (city name).
VO: Alright! Have they been outside of Nepal?
Me: No, officer
VO: Have you been?
Me: Nope (idk why I said only nope lmao, I thought I went a bit rude)
VO: What do your parents do?
Me: My father is a (occupation) and he also has a side business (only said the business type didn’t describe).
VO: Does your mother work?
Me: No officer, but she does manage a land leased to………..(mentioned the name only)
VO: hmm…so what did you do after your high school. (as I am a 2024 pass out)
Me: (I did plan for this answer but idk why I went too honest in this answer and told exactly what happened. I told him an on-the-spot answer. Vaguely saying, I worked for a company fulltime in a non tech role…I told him I was searching for dev related internship or job but didn’t get one tho I did this job. I told him I believe I lacked skills and knowledge to find a job which I wanted)
VO: Alright, so you mentioned fb, insta and linkedin in ds. Are they only platforms you use?
Me: Yes officer
VO: Are they all public?
Me: Yes, officer.
VO: (picked up the pink slip and passed me the blank pink slip ) Write down the date.
Me: (I was shocked and confused because it ended too quick) I was like today’s date? Here?
VO: yes, write 20th November today’s date.
Me: Thanks! Do I need to do anything else? (I was expecting he might say make sure your social medias are public, but he said nothing, and I went away)
(I never expected the interview to go like this. I was at least expecting some of the common qns like which uni, why this uni, why usa, earnings, plans after graduation, etc but he asked me very formal qns except one. I really believe either I was very lucky or maybe my honesty(kidding XD) )
(my interview was max 1min or maybe 40-50 secs and I was the 4th one among 50-60 ppl to get a pink slip as per my observation)
indian VO thiyo sab B1/B2 ko thyo i was the first candidate of F1 visa in counter number 9. so interview went like this:
VO: Hello NAMASTE boy!
Me: Namaste sir.
VO: pass me your documents
Me: Here you go sir.
VO: (looking at my transcript) wow you have very good marks in grade 12.
Me: Thankyou officer, i worked hard to get that result.
VO: why electrical engineering
Me: TOLD(readymade answer)
VO: your COA is 20k$ how are you going to manage.
Me: told my answer sponsors wala
VO: so, you've mentioned fb and insta in your ds form do you use any other social media?
Me: No sir i only use them and i've made them public
VO: you have siblings?
Me: yes, i've elder brother
VO: What is he doing?
Me: he is currently in US (ds maa mention garya thiye tesaile cross check garya hola ig) on his F1 visa.
VO: your parents can afford your as well as your brother's stay in us?
Me: yes officer my brother has got presidents honor scholarship which covers his academic expenses and living expenses will be covered by my family.
VO: Which scholarship?
Me: presidents honor scholarship
VO: (picked up the pink slip) and wrote brother's i20 on pink slip and handed me
Me: Thankyou officer!
