Stock in Action

Zomato: Zomato 4QFY24 performance came in line with the consensus estimates. Revenue during the quarter grew by 73% YoY and 8% QoQ. While food delivery revenues were up 4% QoQ and 51% YoY, Blinkit grew by 19% QoQ and 112% YoY. EBITDA margins improved sequentially for both food delivery and Blinkit. The Blinkit GOV grew 14% QoQ. Margins improved too, with contribution margin expanding 150bps QoQ to 3.9%, and EBITDA margins improving by 160bps to -0.9%. Company plans to "double down" on quick commerce with plans to add 100 stores in Q1FY25, and reach 1000 stores by end-FY25. Management is planning to increase quick-commerce penetration in top 8 cities. Company is doing a strategic move to gain market share in Quick Commerce through geographical expansion while competitors are still focused on profit improvement. Given faster growth ambitions, management has guided for near-zero EBITDA in the next 2-3 quarters for Quick Commerce business. Positive on Zomato as the company is turning into a steady profitable company.

HAL: HAL has a US$10bn-plus order book and it could benefit from US$60bn of more defence aircraft orders from now till FY28E, of which US $16bn have already been approved and US$40bn-plus with higher local content should be awarded in the next 5-7 years. HAL recently expanded its Tejas Mk1A fighter aircraft manufacturing capacity from 8 to 16 per year and is working on expanding it further to 24, sufficient to deliver 10 squadrons over FY23- 32E. It has also expanded its rotary wing platform's manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand for locally designed and manufactured aircraft. With the government seeking to reduce import dependence and promote domestic manufacturing in the defence sector, the past decade has seen a steady reduction in import component for HAL and several HAL-designed aircraft platforms, such as Tejas Mk1A, gaining acceptance from the Indian military. Positive on HAL given the strong tailwind in defense sector and healthy order book pipeline.

VIP Industries: VIP Industries reported a decent top-line growth, partially attributed to the low base due to the fire at the Bangladesh facility in the year-ago period. Revenue grew 15% YoY, thanks to the impact of the Bangladesh fire in the base quarter. The company is guiding to a recovery in the top-line in FY25. Should the industry grow by 12% in FY25, VIP hopes to outperform the industry. The management expects a blended operating margin of 15% in FY25, with exit margin for Q4 at 18%. As the soft luggage inventory reduces by the second half of the fiscal, contribution from Bangladesh will improve and freight and warehousing expenses will reduce gradually. Hence, a meaningful margin uptick is expected in the second half. The boom in travel that was considered a revenge travel post Covid shows no signs of abating with all the leading indicators with growth in air passengers and record hotel occupancy showing a positive trend. Travel is increasingly becoming a fixed part of the household budget, especially for the younger generation. Frequent travels are turning luggage into lifestyle products, while the growing affluence and customers’ preference for branded products are fuelling the growth of the organised sector. Positive on VIP industries given the strong tailwinds in travel & tourism space.

Endurance Tech: Endurance Tech, India's leading aluminium die-casting company, is seeing a consistent improvement in its performance metrics. This growth is fuelled by a substantial increase in domestic demand, steady international demand, and a reduction in raw material costs. During 4QFY24, company registered a strong 19.3% YoY growth in its top line, driven by a robust 24.8% growth in India business, led by a sharp rebound in 2W sales. Overall operating margin also expanded by 108.9 bps, led by the operating leverage that the India business got. The positive outlook for the company is underlined by a notable surge in 2W demand, as indicated by the monthly wholesale figures reported by OEMs. The management's confidence in the long-term prospects of the Indian 2W segment is bolstered by the company's order schedule. The management expects the India business margin to improve, primarily due to the operating leverage, led by an increase in volume and product mix tilted towards high-value products. Positive on Endurance Tech given its technologically advanced product range and strong dominance in the two-wheeler segment.

Cello World: Cello World, posted a healthy performance in Q4 FY24, driven by volume growth as well as margin improvement, thanks to the fall in raw material prices. This growth will be driven by new products in the premium categories as well as the commencement of a new glassware plant in Rajasthan. With raw material prices stabilising, average realisations are expected to remain stable this fiscal vis-a-vis a drop in FY24, which would also support robust growth. Organised players with new products as well as aggressive network expansion are poised to continue to gain market share. The implementation of BIS norms would restrict low-quality imports. This would provide an additional growth opportunity. Cello closed FY24 with an 11% YoY revenue growth and an EBITDA margin improvement of about 200 bps as raw material prices came down. Net profits grew at a robust 24% YoY in the last fiscal. Raw material prices have stabilised and Cello expects average realisation to be stable in FY25. Cello has guided for a 15-17% revenue growth in the current fiscal, which would be entirely volume-driven. Cello is planning to launch premium products with better quality, and varied designs and colours to attract more consumers. Positive on Cello World given the healthy earnings growth in 4QFY24.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd: The company has recorded strong financial performance for the 4th quarter FY24. The revenue for Q4FY24 stood at Rs. 1,961 Cr, up by 16% QoQ basis and by 9% YoY. This growth in the quarter was led by their Electric Consumer Durables (ECD) segment where the revenues increased by 14.3% compared to Q4FY23. For the FY24 revenue stood at Rs. 7,313Cr, up by 6% YoY. The EBIDTA for Q4FY24 stood at Rs. 204 Cr, up by 36% QoQ. For the Full year the EBIDTA was at Rs. 714 Crores. For the quarter PAT stood at Rs. 133 Cr, up by 56% QoQ and for FY24 PAT was at Rs. 442 Cr. The company focused on premiumisation in their new product launches which helped to improve their brand image. The company also crossed a milestone of selling 2 cr+ fans in a year. Also, their E-commerce business recorded highest quarterly revenue with 75% YoY growth in Q4. Positive on Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals given its strong quarterly growth and its improving performance in the ECD segment.

Stock in Action

BEL: With improving visibility, led by strong orders in hand and good execution, Bharat Electronics Ltd is confident of a strong growth in the coming years. The company has a healthy order backlog of nearly Rs 76,000 crore, providing strong revenue visibility for the next three years. The company won orders worth Rs 35,000 crore, against its earlier guidance of Rs 20,000 crore. The company is expecting order inflows of close to Rs 25,000 crore, excluding LRSM orders (long-range anti-ship missiles), in the current fiscal as well. Large defence programmes like LRSM, QRSM and others are undergoing successful trials and could be finalised this year or the next, translating into significant additional inflows. The company is also optimistic about execution in the coming months, led by easing supply- side issues and traction in new orders. In terms of EBITDA margin, it projects 23-25 percent margins in the current fiscal, led by better revenue mix, easing cost pressures and better cost control. The company is also confident about exports. Export orders now stand at $407 million as against $211 million in fiscal 2023. Exports have a strong visibility, considering that, in fiscal 2024, export revenue was merely $110 million. Positive on BEL given reasonable valuation and strong order book which provides earnings visbility.

Jubilant FoodWorks: Jubilant FoodWorks reported decent set of Q4FY24 results. Revenues from the India operations grew 6% YoY, primarily driven by network expansion. Dominos India revenues grew 4.9%, driven by 5.5% order growth. Dominos LFL growth was 0.1% in Q4FY24. DP Eurasia reported revenues of Rs 217 crore in the February-March 2024 period. The Dominos Bangladesh business grew 52% owing to rapid store expansion, while the Sri Lanka business grew 4% YoY. The demand for pizzas in the domestic market has been under pressure owing to weak consumer sentiment due to the high inflation in the recent past. JFL stated that the demand environment remains uncertain and the softness may sustain in the near term. While there has been demand pressure at the industry level, JFL’s LFL growth turned marginally positive in Q4FY24. Company has invested about Rs 1,200 crore for the acquisition. Positive on Jubilant Foodworks given the decent set of 4QFY24 performance and recovery in same store sales growth.
