Now we can definitively say, give or take a few feet, the B-21 spans 152 feet and is 61 feet long. This puts it at about 12% smaller in terms of wingspan than the B-2, and about the same — 12% smaller — when it comes to length.

The Space Systems Command on Oct. 15 issued a sources-sought notice seeking companies capable of supporting its Counter Communications System Meadowlands fleet for roughly six years. The document says the future fleet will include at least 32 systems, while contractors should be prepared to sustain as many as 56 systems dispersed around the world.

France and the Netherlands held their first Nuclear Steering Group meeting in Paris on the 14th of October.
The meeting took place between representatives from the Elysée and the office of the Prime minister of the Netherlands, accompanied by officials from the ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs.
They discussed strengthened bilateral cooperation and strategic convergence between both countries. They agreed a way forward, and reaffirmed their ambition for a stronger and safer Europe.
Moscow’s nuclear threats and the care taken by both NATO and Russia to avoid direct conflict since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine mean that nuclear weapons, nuclear coercion and nuclear deterrence still matter in a European security order again shaped by mutual antagonism. Washington’s shifting posture, though it does not yet appear to have changed Moscow’s nuclear calculations, adds a dangerous degree of uncertainty, particularly for NATO allies in Europe. In an atmosphere of intense distrust, which heightens the danger of misinterpretation, NATO members and Russia can help mitigate risks by engaging at government, expert and other levels to more effectively communicate messages and to better understand one another’s postures. While ambiguity will also play a role in deterrence, and hostility makes engagement difficult, communication can help avoid misunderstandings. In time, such contacts may also allow for limitations on capabilities, if broader dialogue becomes possible.

The Blackbeard Hypersonic weapon may have an interesting warhead. The FY27 USN budget mentions a “Reactive Material Warhead". Structural elements of the casing material itself could greatly enhance the effect of the otherwise small explosive payload of the Blackbeard.

A new website associated with the supplemental environmental impact analysis, launched Oct. 9, states that just over a quarter of the sites could be on land not currently owned by the Air Force, with the service considering:
Acquisition of land and construction of up to 30 new launch silo sites around F.E. Warren
Acquisition of land and construction of up to 30 new launch silo sites around Malmstrom
Acquisition of land and construction of up to 60 new launch silo sites around Minot
Additionally, the service said it is evaluating old sites at Malmstrom formerly operated by the 564th Missile Squadron, now inactive, to reuse for up to 60 new launch silo sites.
The Air Force is planning to buy up to 12 acres per silo, according to the supplemental EIS website.
...
The new EIS website states that the Air Force will reutilize Missile Alert Facility sites for Launch Centers “where feasible,” but at Minot specifically, officials are considering “construction of new launch center sites in previously undeveloped areas,” the website states. Each Launch Center would have a footprint of up to 16 acres.
Another new consideration is the construction of a “purpose-built Operations Group Facility” at Malmstrom.

First Look At Hypersonic Boost-Glide Vehicle Just Tested By South Korea
https://www.twz.com/land/first-look-at-hypersonic-boost-glide-vehicle-just-tested-by-south-korea
The U.S. Air Force’s scramjet-powered Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile (HACM) has finally reached the flight test phase, with at least one “release” having been carried out so far over a range in Australia. HACM has suffered significant delays, and the Air Force has taken the risky step of scaling back overall testing plans to try to keep the program on schedule. The stated goal is to be able to make a decision to start rapidly acquiring HACMs in 2027.

The Department of War announced the directed-energy systems selected following the Joint Interagency Task Force 401's (JIATF-401) counter-unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) directed energy pilot program, marking the next phase of efforts to expand the operational use of high-energy laser (HEL) and high-powered microwave (HPM) capabilities across the homeland.
...
Systems selected for the pilot include:
AeroVironment Palletized High-Energy Laser system
Epirus Leonidas High-Powered Microwave system
Kord Firefly High-Energy Laser system
Boeing Compact Laser Weapon system
...
While these systems represent the first capabilities selected for the pilot program, the DoW and JIATF-401 will continue to evaluate additional directed-energy technologies. In December, the Department will host a directed-energy shoot-off at Dugway Proving Ground to assess additional high-energy laser and high-powered microwave systems to identify promising capabilities for future operational use.
