"Eminem was only able to sell so many records due to being white" is an ignorant argument.
1. No other white rapper comes near the amount of records he sold.
2. If we're pretending that black artists are unable to sell a lot of records then someone has to explain to me how black super star Michael Jackson took the world by storm and outsold everyone with his Thriller album.
Its simple. If you are as talented as these 2, you'll sell recordbreaking records. It has nothing to be with the colour of their skin. Both were able to appeal to a world wide audience due to their skill.
MJ's music, singing skills, lyrics and performances reached out to a world wide audience.
And in Em's case he was able to make an audience relate to him in between all the shock rap. He talked about universally relatable topics like addiction, issues with parents, growing up in poverty and the love for his daughters. Eminem didn't just become popular in the US. People love him in Asia, the Arab world, Africa, Europe, everywhere. It had nothing to do with the colour of his skin.
