Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (d.728H):

"As for singling out the middle day (of Sha'ban), then there is no basis for it, rather singling it out is disliked. Likewise, taking it as a time to prepare foods and put up decorations; it is from the newly invented, innovated times for which there is no basis." Iqtida al-Sirat al-Mustaqim (2/138)
